There's no denying it, I put my foot through the living room ceiling! I was running some cables under the landing floor on New Years Eve afternoon 2005. I managed to loose my footing and this happened.
In this photo, we'd stripped the wallpaper off in preparation of the entire ceiling being removed (due to traces of asbestos in the artex) after which the builders would replace the ceiling and coving and then re-pain the entire room (including dry-skimming of the walls!)

My study. Note particularly the woodchip wallpaper painted salmon pink and artex swirls on the ceiling. Yes that is a toy Dougal and a Clanger. Bagpuss is on top of the TV in the lounge.
The artex was just gross. Thankfully, I knew a good plasterer who sorted it out. The walls are now as smooth as my bum.
