Brief: Research 20 different art movements from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, and then use the information to create a timeline of art and graphic design over that time period aimed at young people. Final outcome to consist of 4 A5 or A4 pages rather than the whole timeline.
We had recently studied David Carson and the layouts he designed so I used his style as my inspiration. As the brief featured time and history, I decided to create the timeline with a Steampunk theme.
I focused on 3 art movements, one from each century, and the front cover. The final piece was printed on a sheet of A3 and folded into quarters but as the actual file has half the image upside down, I amended it to a strip so it was easier to see it all.
This was an alternate version to the Steampunk one that I designed first. I wanted to do something that was more brightly coloured which I thought would appeal to young people. The design also featured a transparent cover which can't be shown accurately here; the first section with the 'Time Line' title is the transparent cover which would overlay the name page in the second section.

Abbeydale Road Wall Mural
Location: Abbeydale Road
Artist(s): Stog, Trik'09 and Marcus Method
New street art by Stog, Trik’09 and Marcus Method opposite the Abbeydale Picture House to replace Rocket01’s contribution to the 2016 Festival of the Mind which was sadly vandalised.
There’s a further piece of colourful street art along the car park wall just around the corner.
