Finally! I've been trapped under a mountain of rush work the last couple months, but I can finally do a piece of my own design and I'm working on some roughs on the computer. I rather like doign my roughs in photoshop lately as it allows me to move things around more easily than putting pen to paper.

The RSL club in Texas, most certainly a 1930's picture cinema originally, and a fine example. The booking office grill is inside the main doors on the left.

I have a few quilts at a local gallery this summer. Chelsea Underground Art Gallery.

In 1863 Degas' sister Thérèse married her first cousin Edmondo Morbilli, who lived in Naples. This majestic portrait was probably painted in 1865 during the couple's visit to Paris after the loss of a child expected in early 1864. Thérèse sits, literally and figuratively, in the shadow of her husband, and Degas contrasted her worried expression with Edmondo's attitude of self-assurance. The artist set off the subtle grays and blacks of their clothing against the simple, ocher-and-gray drapery behind them and the richly embroidered Islamic textile on the table, which recalls portraits from the Italian Renaissance.

This unfinished portrait of Degas' sister and her Neapolitan husband was in his studio at the time of his death. Notice how Thérèse's dress and shawl are undefined masses of colour. There, Degas has scraped and rubbed the paint off the canvas. The dark lines indicate changes he intended but never made. The faces, by contrast, are carefully finished, detailed and expressive. Degas hoped to capture his sitters, he said, in "familiar and typical attitudes."

I have now started to put my photos onto canvas. As you see with the changes to make the canvas art it really brings the photo to life.

This small little town is located at the end of the world, on the southern tip of Argentina. The city center is easily traversed on foot, filled with small hotels, restaurants, shops and travel related businesses. While the air of the city is decidedly catered towards tourists, it's nice to see some local art mixed in.

Reproduction of ancient Minoan art. The ancient Minoan civilization included settlements on the pre-eruption island of Thera. Some think the colapse of the volcanic crater into the sea lead to the myth of the lost continent of Atlantis.

I had a really hard time with this Zendala Dare. The pattern felt very uneven to me and it made it difficult for me to figure out how to fill in the outer sections. Now that it is done, however, I really love it.
