I had loved ones due to arrive by car. But they got caught in a blizzard. One major highway had been closed due to black ice conditions and several accidents. They then detoured onto county roads and slowly drove this way. Yet again, another major highway on their route closed due to similar conditions, plus blowing snow. Yet they persisted as they took other routes. Finally, they arrived on what became a 16-hour journey - weary but safe. I'm thankful.

3015, a train of MF67 stock arrives into Lamarck–Caulaincourt Station on the Paris Metro, Line 10. Buried in the hill of Montmartre this station is one of the deepest on the Paris Metro. It's outside entrance was made famous in the film 'Amelie'.

Half an hour after taking the picture, it was already raining heavily. I wouldn´t have believed that when I left the beach. The sky was still in full color at that time.

Susquehanna NY-6 arrives at Little Ferry just after sunset behind an SD45/GP39-2 duo. This combination of power was not uncommon in the mid-late 1980s. Note that the Guilford "G" has been removed from 389, marking the date of this photo as post-Delaware & Hudson separation from Guilford. NYS&W police car M-1199 is parked at the Bergen Turnpike crossing. Railroad police kept an eye on double stack trains in the early days.

164 pulls into Alexandria station on P124 heading Northbound still retaining its clean look even after being across the country.
On a gorgeous summer morning, the town of Cumberland is awakened by the sound of Western Maryland 1309 pulling into Cumberland station. Crossing over the north branch of the Potomac river from the shops in Ridgeley, West Virginia, I was offered my first sight of the locomotive operating. This was my first time observing a Mallet locomotive in operation, as the last time one ran I believe was 1218 in 1991. The size, and magnetic draw, of this locomotive is something to behold. When the crew sounded the two-ahead out of the Ridgeley shops, the whole town was drawn to the tracks to watch them roll into town. Despite the difficulty of "chasing", I enjoyed the multiple opportunities to photograph the locomotive in Cumberland before their run up the mountain. I am looking forward to spending a weekend out in Cumberland soon, and taking a ride behind this fabled beast as well as photographing it.
I took my newly acquired Olympus Pen (one lug) to a lecture trip for testing it out. I'm quite fond of the camera. It's lightweight and has a wonderful lens. I found myself very comfortable with the half frame format. Nevertheless, it's getting darker now, so I'll change to bigger formats again.

This beautiful doe came out early today, I suspect she was cold and hungry, well the 20 something turkeys were still out so I couldn't put food out because they would have chased her away and eaten all of it. They left shortly after and I went out with food and all the deer had a good meal! I did feel bad that there was no food for her when she arrived though.
