MPDRV has reached Roseville yard and slowly rolls off the wye on the approach to the arrival tracks in the yard. Next to the lead motor is an old white house that had become somewhat of a landmark for the amount of photos it’s in of trains coming in and out of Roseville over the years.
This year's cubs have just started to make themselves known, and one of last year's male cubs chaperones a new arrival in our garden.
A passenger line is just arriving at the port of Rijeka.
That's Jadrolinija's fast passenger catamaran Cvijeta – 38 meters long, 10 meters wide, 312 passenger capacity. Built in 2023, it entered Jadrolinija's fleet in January 2025.

The southbound Denali Star has arrived at the depot in Denali Park. The fall colors are showing and with 2 weeks left of passenger season will continue to improve. 9.6.25

The Swiss Classic Formation arrive at the Scottish International Airshow 2018 in Ayr, Scotland.
The beautiful outlines of the venerable Douglas DC-3 Dakota and three Beechcraft Model 18 aircraft. The weather was sadly quite poor for most of the show, overcast and with patches of drizzle. The arrival of the DC-3, one of my favourite aircraft of all time, made my day as I hadn't seen one gracing the skies for over 15 years. The shape and sound of this radial engine beauty was magical and all but brought a tear to my eye.
Captured with my Canon 5D Mk III, the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens and the EF 2x Extender III - all handheld and with a low shutter speed to create prop blur. I was so tired that morning that I completely forgot to take my tripod or monopod with me. I edited this with a slight 'contrasty' vintage feel and added grain. Enjoy!
Awakened from my slumber, I stumble into the cold waters. The peaceful night, broken ablaze with a mysterious arrival. Blinding, yet its warmth beckoning me. A silent witness to the unknown.
A fortuitous layover in Silverton meant I was able to catch the arrival of the first morning train. Compared to the steam locomotives we see in the UK this huge narrow gauge looked most exotic. Straight out of a Western film, the sort I used to watch as a child.
Baldwin 1925 built K-36 class 480 is seen here making a spirited arrival.
This Itoh peony gets its name ‘First Arrival’ as it is one of the first hybrid peonies to bloom in the year. This is a semi-double flower variety of peony that has crinkly lavender-pink flowers.
The exquisite blossoms gradually become redder closer to the center of the flower. The center of the Itoh peony flower looks like a magenta and yellow-colored spiky ball. These large flowers can be as many as 40 on each plant with each one measuring around 8” (20 cm) across.

we’ve got one more day of wind and snow ahead, so looking back to the sunshine of my arrival a week ago! the sign on the right indicates that you’re entering the Árneshreppur municipality, which is the subject of my environmental history research -- and i'm scheduled to give a research presentation to my Fulbright cohort tomorrow morning (via Zoom), so must get my thoughts organized...
