I found this one on my front door. I bit scary as it is highly poisonous. I did manage to move it away from the house. This one is about 4 inches long (10cm). it usually stands like that to prepare to attack
There are always stray dogs loitering on the beach. They are often not very clean. Many of them seek the proximity of human establishments that are directly on the beach, such as hotels and BnBs. The staff let them be and feed them, but otherwise do not invest time or money to wash the dogs regularly and have them examined by the vet.
We therefore always take a stick with us, not to beat the dogs, but to remind them of social distancing, as it is called today.

Okay, so technically, I didn't shoot this. I handed my camera to my daughter while I tried the hatchet throw at the Nor Cal Renaissance Fair near Gilroy, California. I didn't know she had shot this until I downloaded my pics when I got home.

Hundreds of military guards descended into DC one evening, marched by peaceful protesters and into the police enclosures around the White House. Surreal, chilling and shocking. What was the military doing in the city?

Scale Model of American Armed Brig, Circa 1810
Source: Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, Virginia
The European and American Navies of the 19th Century had brigs to carry dispatches, escort convoys and raid commerce. A full crew, with marines, numbered around 300, but only about 20 men were needed to sail the ship.
A plane took part in the re-enactment of the Pearl Harbor attack. BTW, can anyone help identify this type of plane? Thanks.

It is rare to see unadulterated nature in a part of Florida where tourism reigns supreme, but there are a few places where we can get away to enjoy the beauty of how things would be if mankind didn't mess everything up trying to put mouse ears on it all! This is one of those places. The stately trees you see in the beginning of the wetland area of the Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge look almost as prehistoric as the alligators that swim the waterways there. Draped with the Spanish Moss that adorns many of our large, Southern Oak trees, this limb reminded me of a strong arm, reaching out to the future from a distant past. I, for one, am very glad we have beauty like this to enjoy. People sometimes need an escape from crowds and noise. This is Florida at its best.

It's always a great privilege to see these critically endangered animals in their natural habitat. This chap had evidently been in the wars, sporting a badly wounded right eye and a gash to the neck; injuries most likely acquired in a clash with another rhino.
