From sun scorched Utah to the rain soaked streets of Wellingborough England.

Memories of a warm summer day.

Just on the edge of town and on the site of an 18th Century farm sits the thoroughly modern building, surrounded by newly planted fields.

The pile of rubbish on this busy side street in London made me think it must be 'bin day' :-).

Thanks for looking!

I'm not sure if this is sharp enough

Whilst looking over the mini pond at Stover, this Grey Heron swooped over my head and landed on the opposite side of the pond. The still water produced a fantastic reflection when getting low down. Whilst taking a few photos, it moved around slowly, but mostly standing dead still. You could easily mistake one of these for a statue. I usually find these birds quite hard to photograph due to how large they are, however, I’m really happy with how these images turned out.

Shame about the burnt out sun but still a pleasing view.

Turnstone. A small flock of these were hopping about at high tide.

One senses we are not alone. There are hidden secrets, aside from the rustlings and tweets not uncommon to an ancient woodland. There's something else I can't quite place. My hairy little companion is sticking close to me. This most unusual...

Many thanks for all your comments. Too many to respond to all of them individually.

An upgrade. Or technically, the same. The red Fredmobile has been replaced by a 2025 model. Because you know....you're worth it.

(When it stops raining I'll let him get in it but only if he promises to keep his filthy paws on his patented "dog-proof" seat cover, also newly purchased).

Taken at the end of a recent afternoon at Bushy Park, when I managed to isolate this magnificent stag. I like the light in this picture as it looks like he's almost surrounded by a ring of fire!

Unashamedly adjusted in Affinity Photo from the previous image.

It was suggested to me that a single tree would be more pleasing, and odd numbers in photography do generally appeal to us. Here I have cloned out the tree on the right and taken the opportunity to boost the colour vibrance. If only real life was that malleable...

(Although, looking really closely here and at my original this is actually two trees intertwined which I like very much).

Thanks Mike mstoy!

Golden Gates Lakes Nature Reserve, Mucking, Essex UK

Known locally as the Heronry Shaw lakes. A former gravel pit, later a landfill site and now restored to nature.

I’ve posted 3 shots of this lake today and I think this is my personal favourite. Only subtle enhancement to lift the foreground shadow and boost saturation. And one or two stray branches got the airbrush of doom. But the light and composition are what I see in others’ work and I aspire to emulate. This despite the power lines in the distance. But…no power lines means no camera battery or internet, no internet means no Flickr so they’re a fact of life.

Not quite ripened but picked and arranged by me on a convenient bench. Natural light, of course.

Many years ago a friend introduced me to his home-made sloe gin. I remember going for a second glass, possibly a third. After that I went to bed. Nothing much wrong with that as I was staying the night anyway. But this was 4 o'clock in the afternoon...

goldfinch ~ carduelis carduelis (female?)

RSPB green status list.

I have noticed goldfinches regularly bend over and look at their feet. Does anyone know why they do this? I haven't noticed it with other finches or any other bird. Although she looked at her feet she kept an eye on me the whole time.

Canon EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. 3 shot focus merge in Affinity photo, 2 EL-100 Speedlites. I tried so many variations of flash positions and power settings I can't recall precisely the specifics of this one. The light fall off is a clue however.
