There are approximately 75,000 - 82,000 (ish) Licenced | Registered motorcycles, scooters and tricycles in Hong Kong, it never really changes much and dealers keep large stocks of popular models for immediate delivery due to heavy demand - The Transport Department classifies motorcycles and scooters as the same type of vehicle, personally I prefer the term motorbikes rather than motorcycles .....and yes, Hong Konger‛s love fast bikes.
There is nothing at all unusual about the popularity of motorcycles in Hong Kong, big powerful bikes are a lot more popular than the entry level 125cc and 250cc bikes simply because here you can get a motorcycle from all the major brands that do 190mph + and 0 - 60mph in 2.8 seconds, fast enough to outperform most supercars and even hypercars in Hong Kong and at a fraction of the price of a typical supercar, it is an easy sale. Scooters, well they are popular for food delivery companies!

Folklore has it that the moon influences people's sleep. This theory probably stemmed from the knowledge that the moon influences water and the human body is made up of approximately 50-75% water. Still, there has been no study to confirm the folklore - until now.
According to The Independent, the international research community has been divided on this question for a long time, but now a highly controlled study has found evidence to support the ancient theory that indeed moon activity affects sleeping patterns among humans.
The study determining whether the Super Moon 2014 summer will affect us humans was led by Michael Smith at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. According to the study, participants wake up more and sleep approximately 25 minutes less during full moon than at times with other moon phases.
Smith said, 'The rooms in our sleep laboratories do not have any windows. So the effect we found cannot be attributable to increased nocturnal light during a full moon.'
Astrologically speaking, a Supermoon is an intensified New Moon or Full Moon. With a New Moon you often focus on personal beginnings, however when a Supermoon is involved those new beginnings will take on an even greater momentous tone. The same applies to a Full Moon. Crescendos and culminations of events will seem even more dramatic and climactic.
The Moon is also associated with emotions and our feminine sides. When a Supermoon is involved expect to be even more emotional than usual. Tears and laughter will come more easily, moods will suffer extreme swings and there will be no shortage of drama—both good and bad.
The Moon’s effects will also cast its light on women in particular. Mothers, daughter, sisters and friends may be noticeably affected by the intensified energies. Husbands, fathers and boyfriends may be dismayed or exasperated by the behavior of females during these transits.Emotional storms will come and go.
These are opportunities for people to learn how to deal with feelings while developing patience and understanding. It is also a chance to grow closer. Not all emotions will be negative and floods of love and happiness can wash over us too.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I fell in love with Starbust shortly after I discovered his existence. I'm sure I had seen him (her?) before, when researching Girl of the Year Chrissa. But it wasn't until I was given my Chrissa doll in 2022, that I really connected with the llama. You see, I had known a real life llama since I was 12. That was back in the day when my sister and I had horses. We'd go to one of the farms in town and pick up hay in the fields, to get a discount on it. Somehow that turned into us helping out with ALL the haying in the area (my dad was friends with the farmer). Eventually, that lead to me getting a job with the guy who owned the field...and that's where I work now! I vividly remember the first time we were at Eben's farm, driving up the lane to the field. Dad pointed and said, "Look at the llama." I would later learn his name was "Big Red." I took care of him for many years as an adult. He would get special meals, because he was too gentle with the sheep, who would bully him away from his own food. Big Red was a gentle, but very cautious creature. We always joked that he was watching us whenever Eben was out of town. In the last months of his life, he was very friendly with people (probably because he had a tumor growing that changed his personality). He was a beautiful creature with the funniest crooked teeth. I miss him dearly, ever since he passed away in 2021. Anyways, the loss of Big Red made me want Chrissa's llama even more. I checked for this guy on eBay time and time again. There were so many occasions when I almost pulled the trigger. But I somehow talked myself out of it every time. I hoped to get a super cheap one...perhaps without the bridle and blanket.
On Christmas morning 2024, I woke up to do my morning chores (feeding/cleaning the critters, cleaning the house, lighting the wood stove, etc). I spotted a handmade card from my sister on the table, as well as a painting. Inside the card was a little note. It said to look on eBay--Colleen had gotten me something small as a surprise. We share the same eBay account, so it's hard to keep secrets. That's why if Colleen orders me something, she usually does it the night before and leaves a note for me to check eBay. I knew from the llama sticker on the note what it must be. Sure enough, she'd gotten me Starburst. He was in pristine condition, complete with bridle and blanket. She paid $25 for him, which was a great deal. When I would search for this llama, the nicer ones could sometimes cost upwards of $40. She said she rationalized that she'd spend a few extra bucks to get me the nicer one, since the incomplete llamas weren't much cheaper at the time. He arrived a few days after Christmas, and was even cuter than I expected. I love having a little American Girl farm...next I need Caroline's calf! But this llama is impossible to beat. I also adore his name...Starburst.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: This outfit honestly blew me away when it arrived in the mail. I expected it to be decently made, but I wasn't anticipating just how well it was crafted. The sweater is INSANELY thick...like something a person would wear. It does have velcro on the back, so you don't have to force it over Melody's head. I know that takes away from the realism, but I hate American Girl clothes that need to be pulled over their heads (it messes up their hair big time, and can cause the shirt to get stretched out quicker). The pattern is also very charming. The cowl neck is precious too and works with Melody's short hair. Her pants are interesting--I originally thought the side shown here was the front. The way the velcro is placed looks like the fly of the pants. But this is actually the backside. They are not as thick as the sweater, but definitely are well made. I like the pale pink color that contrasts with the blues on the sweater. Now, these shoes are almost as fabulous as the sweater. They have a woven type of trim that adds so much visual interest. The base of the shoes feels sturdy too. The headband is a solid hunk of plastic. It's kind of tight and I'm always afraid it is going to rip some of Melody's hair when I put it on her. But you can stretch it out a bit with your hands while placing it on her head, so it isn't as tight to get on.

Approximately 19,000 elephants are located within or very near conflict zones in countries with civil wars or significant unrest and armed non-state groups. Up to a maximum 15% of elephant populations are killed annually in or very near conflict zones (ca. 2,850 elephants). An estimated 100,000 elephants are located within a 500 km striking range of such areas of which approximately 5,000 elephants are killed. Within and near conflict zones non-state armed groups are responsible for killing about 90% of the elephants killed. Depending on the non-state armed groups range of illegal hunting of elephants the illegal trade in ivory provides these groups with approximately USD 3.9-12.3 million.

This is a photograph from the second annual Kilcock Kilomarathon 2013 which was held at Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 6th October at 11:00. This event follows on from the very successful inaugural event last year. The event today also included a 6KM Fun Run and Walk. There was also a specially organised officially recognised marathon which allowed competitors to complete the 6KM course seven times for the marathon distance. The main event was the kilomarathon which is approximately 26.3 kilometers (a little over 16 miles). The race started and ended in Kilcock GAA club and took a left turn route out to Newtown, then Donadea The Range, Tirmoghan, and returning back via the Clane Road Roundabout to Kilcock GAA. There was a slight change to last year's route which brought the race out on the Kilcock AC 5KM Road Race route for 1km. This is a tough challenging course which brings runners up the locally famous 'Newtown Hill' (see Google Street View goo.gl/maps/VbHUo) and across by Donadea Forest. There was stewarts position at every junction point in the race.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 200 participants between the Kilomarathon and the 6KM Race.
Weather: This was a relatively dry day with very light showers at times. The temperatures were a little higher than one would expect for early October with temperatures around 16C. There was a light breeze.
Course: The entire route does not actually bring the race into Kilcock town at all as the race never actually crosses the railway or Royal Canal both which run through the town slighly south-easterly towards Dublin. Leaving Kilcock GAA the race route follows country roads westerly until the course passes Knockanally Golf and Country Club. The direction then turns south until it turns again at Donadea Forest park brings the race back in a north-easterly direction towards Kilock. The course was very well marshalled with marshals at every junction. There was also a very significant Garda presence at major road crossings and junctions.
Location Map: Start, Finish, and Race Headquarters at Kilcock GAA (Google Streetview) goo.gl/maps/5OBnR
Refreshments: There was a very impressive array of refreshments provided for participants afterwards in Kilcock GAA. There were showers and changing rooms also provided.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Approximately 3 miles from Bridgend and about 20 miles west of Cardiff the village of Ogmore-by-Sea lies in the Vale of Glamorgan. The beach looks out on Tusker Rock, has sand at low-tide, and sharp rocks at high-tide. The river Ogmore estuary is flanked by Ogmore beach on one side and the dunes of Merthyr Mawr on the other. The estuary makes bathing unsafe from most of the beach. The rocky shoreline is well known as a rock climbing location. It is an interesting place geologically with a variety of fossils clearly visible.
