Donadea Forest Park is situated in rural north Kildare and is approximately 640 acres in size. The amenities at the forest include good walking trails, a diversity of natural habitats, a walled stream, a large natural lake, and the ruins of Donadea castle. The Park is a designated National Heritage Area. The basic designation for wildlife is the Natural Heritage Area (NHA). This is an area considered important for the habitats present or which holds species of plants and animals whose habitat needs protection. It is a special occasion to allow the 50KM to be held in this environment.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) is a pair of residential towers in the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy, between Via Gaetano de Castillia and Via Federico Confalonieri near Milano Porta Garibaldi railway station. They have a height of 111 metres (364 ft) and 76 metres (249 ft) and contain more than 900 trees (approximately 550 and 350 in the first and second towers, respectively) on 8,900 square metres (96,000 sq ft) of terraces. Within the complex is an 11-storey office building; its facade does not include plants.

The towers were designed by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri,Gianandrea Barreca and Giovanni La Varra). It also involved input from horticulturalists and botanists.

The building was inaugurated in October 2014.

The project was designed as part of the rehabilitation of the historic district of Milan between Via De Castillia and Confalonieri in Porta Nuova, which is known to be one of the richest business district in Europe. Bosco Verticale is one of the biggest European redevelopment projects, consisting of two residential towers of which the largest is 26 floors and 110 metres high (called Torre E) and the smaller tower is 18 floors and 76 metres high (called Torre D). It contains 400 condominium units priced from 10,000 Euro per square meter for lower floors – to 18,000 Euro per square metre for higher floors.

According to Stefano Boeri, the building was inspired by Italo Calvino's 1957 novel The Baron in the Trees, in which the protagonist decides to abandon the ground and live in the trees for the rest of his life.[6] The project was named Bosco Verticale, or in English "Vertical Forest", because together the towers have 800 trees, 5,000 shrubs and 1.5000 perennial plants, which help mitigate smog and produce oxygen. These tree-packed high rises help cities built for density, adding more housing and infrastructure, while improving the air quality. Trees and plants are the most efficient and cost effective way to absorb carbon dioxide. The 20,000 trees and perennial plants in the buildings will convert approximately 44,000 pounds of carbon each year. With more than 90 species, the buildings' biodiversity is expected to attract new bird and insect species to the city. It is also used to moderate temperatures in the building in the winter and summer, by shading the interiors from the sun and blocking harsh winds. The vegetation also protects the interior spaces from noise pollution and dust from street-level traffic.

Milanese architect Stefano Boeri

The building itself is self-sufficient by using renewable energy from solar panels and filtered waste water to sustain the buildings' plant life. These green technology systems reduce the overall waste and carbon footprint of the towers. Lead designer Stefano Boeri stated, “It’s very important to completely change how these new cities are developing. Urban forestation is one of the biggest issues for me in that context. That means parks, it means gardens, but it also means having buildings with trees.”

The design was tested in a wind tunnel to ensure the trees would not topple from gusts of wind. Botanists and horticulturalists were consulted by the engineering team to ensure that the structure could bear the load imposed by the plants. The steel-reinforced concrete balconies are designed to be 28 cm thick, with 1.30 metre parapets. Bosco Verticale is the first model of urban densification of nature in a city and Boeri plans to build similar structures in Switzerland, the Netherlands (one is already under construction in Eindhoven and soon also in Utrecht), and multiple cities in China.

Approximately 3 miles from Bridgend and about 20 miles west of Cardiff the village of Ogmore-by-Sea lies in the Vale of Glamorgan. The beach looks out onto Tusker Rock, has sand at low-tide, and sharp rocks at high-tide. The river Ogmore estuary is flanked by Ogmore beach on one side and the dunes of Merthyr Mawr on the other. The estuary makes bathing unsafe on most of the beach. The rocky shoreline is well known as a rock climbing location. It is an interesting place geologically with a variety of fossils clearly visible.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: Shelly was in total disbelief when she found this set. She had secretly purchased and wrapped up a TON of American Girl goodies as a Christmas surprise for me in 2023. She had already wrapped the Lawn Party outfit and labeled the package "Open this last" because she thought she was just about done the Christmas surprise, but she was still on ebay, like a voice was telling her there was SOMETHING else. Why was she so floored? She found this AND the Birthday Cookout set for about forty bucks! They were in a lot on ebay and had, evidently, belong to someone's grandmother. They were both in someone's basement, in their original packaging, some of the accessories still sealed in plastic! After looking carefully at the full listing and sure her eyes weren't deceiving her, she purchased the two sets in the bundle and knew I'd be staggered! Unfortunately, while she was waiting for it to come in the mail, I accidentally found out about it. I was trying to check the tracking on some pajamas she bought for her Tenney doll. She'd purchased this on ebay and the pajamas on Mercari. Tenney's pajamas were the only thing I had any inkling were coming--She'd found them when she was buying Chrissa's snowsuit but waited a few days before buying them (because the seller was new) and texted me at work to say she bought the pjs for Tenney. Well, I forgot which site she'd bought them on and, when I looked at our Mercari notifications, the most recent thing was about Chrissa's snowsuit, which had already arrived and was being worn by Chrissa. (The only thing Shelly bought on Mercari for Christmas as a surprise was Rebecca's school outfit.) When I didn't see Tenney's pajamas in our notifications, I thought she must've bought them on ebay, so I went to our ebay history. Now, Shelly had been hiding her ebay purchases in this handy little hiding place I'd forgotten about (not sure why they have that feature. A friend of mine said maybe so women could conceal purchases from their husbands), but hadn't hidden the listing for this because it hadn't yet arrived. I clicked on the top tracking number, thinking it must be for Tenney's pajamas and said, "Oh, it will be here tomorrow!" without immediately realizing that the picture next to the tracking info looked NOTHING like Tenney's charming gingham pajamas! Well, then I glanced at the picture and said, "What? Shelly, something is wrong. This isn't Tenney's pajamas!" "What are you doing on ebay?" I didn't understand her tone. "Checking on Tenney's pajamas for you?" I mutter. "Colleen, I got those off Mercari!" "I thought so, but all I saw was Chrissa's snowsuit..." I was still REALLY confused about what was happening. She told me that, for one thing, I didn't know how to use Mercari effectively because I clearly hadn't gone to our purchase history, or I would've seen Tenney's nightwear right away. Then she says something like, "You ruined the surprise! I got greedy trying to sneak in ONE more thing!" I was like, "Wait, this looks like doll food" (I hadn't even processed the magnitude of this ebay lot) "Are you saying there's more?" She took me to her room, opened the closet, and moved her pajamas out of their bin to show me a stash of wrapped presents underneath! I was so shocked and overwhelmed (I wanted to pinch myself--it felt like a dream. For one thing, I was getting over a cold and I had overslept, so I was tired. For another, I was in shock!) that I didn't even process that she'd scored, on top of everything in this bin of surprises, she'd found THIS amazing set and all the separately sold doll food! After she had me open all the wrapped stuff (about a week before Christmas) she kept telling me the best thing was yet to come--the thing that was arriving the following day and was certainly not Tenney's pajamas. (Which like were arriving too, but not nearly as exciting.) I couldn't fathom that anything could BE better than what was now laid out on her bed. I mean, among so many other treasures, I had Rebecca's Lace Dress (which was one of my most coveted items from her wardrobe) in one hand and the Lawn Party outfit (which I'd wanted since the age of 12) in another hand. What more could I want? Well, then we looked at the ebay listing together. I couldn't BELIEVE how affordably she got the two sets in a bundle deal! She set some sort of AG record! I had no idea when looking in confusion at what looked like doll food that she'd also gotten this GRILL! Shelly was right--once I came home the next day to find THIS on my dining room table along with the Birthday Cookout set, I wholeheartedly agreed that THIS was the ultimate Christmas surprise!

The grill itself is AMAZING! It's real metal and like new. We don't believe it was ever played with. (Why would someone buy a doll grill and leave it in its box?) It is SO realistic! It has a spinning circle thing that allows you to open and close the air holes on the lid! It has a firmly attached grate (that would take tools to remove I think) and the coal molded underneath. The metal rack at the bottom is attached and there's a separate metal shelf thing that can come off above that. The spatula is so nice! Ours is the version with the wooden handle (some are all metal) and I love that it has a sturdy string so a doll can hold it easier (or you could hang it up in a dolly kitchen). I already used this handy feature to make Joynomi hold it in a photo!

The page this was featured on was one of my favorites to ogle in our American Girl catalogs. I remember how they started the description with something like "This American Grill..." American Girl. American Grill. I'm all about those puns. I wish more than ever to have our old catalogs back--I bet the small cosmetic changes to the grill (at some point it was black) occurred around the time they introduced the Lawn Party outfit (I remember the page was updated a little then, with some modifications). I'm not sure which version was first (and our childhood catalogs could've showed us!)--the black or the green. Or perhaps it was a factory variation. (I doubt it--I bet one color was used first to be replaced by another.) The nostalgia I feel when I look at the box this came in. Yes, it still had its factory box with--black with primary colors on the edges and the old Girl of Today logo! Luckily, the box was a handy way to store it and it was still in good shape, so we had an excuse to keep the box. The Birthday Cookout items were still in their original box too--the plain white cardboard one like I got my childhood Bennett in--and that box had been put into the larger one for shipping. (Shelly was confused when she opened the package to find only the one box until she found the smaller box inside.) We felt irreverent recycling it, but it wasn't as sturdy as the bigger box and had no practical value for storage.

It is still almost as unbelievable to me that we actually have this grill as it was when I first found out Shelly had bought it! Dolly grills are one of my favorite things--my first was Barbie sized and came with a clone gazebo and I loved it! This puts that yellow plastic thing to shame! But this is really here and ours to play with! Pinch me, I must be dreaming!
