What is special about a Belted Kingfisher?
Belted kingfishers are one of the few bird species where the female is more colorful than the male, sporting a chestnut or rust-colored band across her chest. Males are all blue-gray and white. 2. When looking for a belted kingfisher, listen for their distinct and loud rattling or chattering call.
The belted kingfisher is a large, conspicuous water kingfisher, native to North America. All kingfishers were formerly placed in one family, Alcedinidae, but recent research suggests that this should be divided into three subfamilies. Wikipedia

Applied some light painting here by bouncing in the light off of some other tufa behind us. Was just for a few seconds to provide some low light details in the foreground.
Applied a little light painting bouncing the light into the tall tufa ... and at the same time another photographer out in the dark was using a green laser.
The Eurasian dotterel (Charadrius morinellus), also known in Europe as just dotterel, is a small wader in the plover family of birds.
The dotterel is a brown and black streaked bird with a broad white eye-stripe and an orange-red chest band when in breeding plumage. The female is more colourful than the male. The bird is tame and unsuspecting and the term "dotterel" has been applied contemptuously to mean an old fool.
The Eurasian dotterel is a migratory species, breeding in northern Europe and Eurosiberia and migrating south to north Africa and the Middle East in the winter. It nests in a bare scrape on the ground and lays two to four eggs. The male does the incubation and rears the chicks, the female having gone off to find another male and lay another clutch of eggs. It is a common bird with a wide range and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has rated it as being of "least concern".
Applied some antique filters and grain to make this timeless capture of the pretty spot in Ricketts Glen State Park ... it was stepping back in time yesterday ... and into the water too :)
Happy Sliders Sunday

The museum was built between 1893 and 1896 and was designed by Ödön Lechner in the Hungarian Secession style. It has a green roof and the interior is designed using Hindu, Mogul, and Islamic designs. I used to live on the same street back in the 60’s where it is located, and frequently visited the museum.

I applied the Adamski Effect to this image by blurring the background and keeping the rock in focus. I have another version where I removed the rock, which I think I like better, but I believe the Adamski method requires a foreground object.

Until 1939, fixed bridge fares applied to cross the wooden bascule bridge in Greifswald-Wieck: pedestrians 5 pfennigs, horse riders 20 pfennigs, carts 15 pfennigs, 15 geese 15 pfennigs, and cars 25 pfennigs. Today, pedestrians and cyclists can cross the bridge free of charge, while car traffic is restricted to a special permit and costs 50 cents.
Due to weather conditions, the bridge has required frequent repairs, but as one of the city's most important landmarks, it is preserved as a technical monument.
Based on some feedback and my warped sense of mind, here is my version of my Oculus capture taken on the coast of Oregon, and combining it with one of my captures there at Crater Lake (technically all happened in Oregon, therefore it stays in Oregon ..)
Took the image posted below and converted to B&W, then applied a small amount of warming tint to simulate the full moon light spilling over the scene, and then took the night sky from Crater Lake and made that into the sky through the rock openings.
Thoughts ... if someone lives out there, this could be a fun capture to try for real, but need some moonlight, stars, and low tide!!!! all to happen at the same time ... with clear skies.

🌹 There are moments when beauty is not applied — it is conjured. Tonight, before the mirror’s soft candlelight, I traced the contours of my lips with Frida Bright Lips, each hue a whisper of temptation. Their luscious satin glow and PBR brilliance moved like silk beneath moonlight — shades from rose blush to deep coral, to the soft lavender twilight that recalls the glamour of 1940s Hollywood sirens. Compatible with Lelutka EVO X, Akeruka EVO X, and LOGO mesh heads, each tone felt like the echo of a classic romance reborn. 💋
💄 My fingertips trembled slightly as I admired my Nail Bliss – Love Almond Nails, their sculpted form a perfect union of elegance and flirtation. The short almond mesh caught the candle’s shimmer, each curve adorned with a delicate red heart and metallic wave — like a love letter sealed in lacquer. Designed for Legacy, Reborn, Kupra, Maitreya, and LaraX bodies, their PBR sheen whispered of couture precision and modern grace. 💅
✨ I then fastened the Jumo Originals Anna Earrings, and the world itself seemed to hold its breath. The crystalline geometry — fifteen gem colors kissed by four metallic tones — framed my face in opulence. Like the heirlooms of queens once painted by Sargent, they commanded both devotion and admiration. With resizer and shine versions, they shimmered as if spun from the very pulse of desire. 💎
🌙 My eyes, now drawn in mystery, were defined by Jumo Alek Eyeliners*— six sultry HD styles inspired by the elegance of 1960s haute couture. Each sweep, from the fine Parisian flick to the molten gold of a midnight ball, transformed my gaze into poetry. Exclusively crafted for Lelutka EVO X, these liners told their own love story — bold, defiant, and eternal.
Together, these treasures — lip to lash, fingertip to jewel — form not merely a look, but a spell: the timeless symphony of beauty that women have written across centuries, from Cleopatra’s kohl to the flapper’s crimson pout.
🍁 All of these exquisite creations are now exclusively available at the SWANK November “Fall into Autumn” Event:

The ruddy turnstone is a small wading bird, one of two species of turnstone in the genus Arenaria. The scientific name is from Latin. The genus name arenaria derives from arenarius, "inhabiting sand, from arena, "sand". The specific interpres means "messenger"; when visiting Gotland in 1741, Linnaeus thought that the Swedish word Tolk "interpreter" applied to this species, but in the local dialect the word means "legs" and is used for the redshank.
It is now classified in the sandpiper family Scolopacidae but was formerly sometimes placed in the plover family Charadriidae. It is a highly migratory bird, breeding in northern parts of Eurasia and North America and flying south to winter on coastlines almost worldwide. It is the only species of turnstone in much of its range and is often known simply as turnstone.

A stirring sight and sound. Two Spitfires Mk 1a, flying with a Spitfire Mk Vc (leftmost in the picture). The Spitfire Mk V was introduced late in 1940, after the Battle of Britain, and was essentially a Mk 1 with a more powerful RR Merlin engine. The 'a' and 'c' designations indicate the different armament that could be carried in the wings.
Improved radios had also been designed by then, too, and a slightly different aerial mast design, without a wire leading to the fin, can be seen on the Mk V.
Topside camouflage was changed from using 'Dark Earth' to 'Ocean Grey' in mid 1941. A light band around the rear fuselage and yellow stripes on the wing leading edges were introduced to aid visual 'friend or foe' identification.
If you are really sharp-eyed, you will see that the camouflage pattern on the nearer aircraft is a mirror image of that on the other two. Initially, odd and even serial numbered fighter aircraft had mirrored camouflage patterns. Quite why this was thought to be a good idea is lost in the mists of time, but apparently different factories applied the A & B schemes differently, so at the time the Ocean Grey was introduced, it was decided to use only the 'A' pattern camouflage from then on.
