La Valle
This is a Showcase for the latest Landscapes Unlimited Mega Surround landscapes. La Vallée is a small village in a Springtime Alpine valley.

Away from all the attractions, this waterfall is for sure the most beautiful in the whole Iceland, and it took me quite a while to drive off road to reach here. I would have to admit at the moment I shot this photo, I was looking for the Hobbits, man, I have to, cause this is magic, this is other worldly, and this is something you can't observe anywhere else on this planet, let alone the red clouds, truly amazing to look at. I remember I shot both the sunrise and sunset here, which are 1 hour apart anyway, me and my buddy were tired, and exhausted, sleepless, but so happy and excited.

This is the split rail fence that borders a portion of the Mill Valley Dog Park and is probably the most colorful fence you'll find anywhere, with lichen growing along its entire length.
I don't know what Flickr has done with the EXIF data, but I set the aperture at f22 for this shot, in order to get the entire length of the fence in sharp focus. Whatever Flickr's problem is, I hope they fix it soon because, whenever I see an interesting image, I immediately check the EXIF data to see how the shot was accomplished, and I really miss not having it.

once known as a blue grouse...which has been broken into two categories dusky and sooty.....such odd birds with little fear of humans, he was anywhere from 4 to 12 feet away while I was photographing him.....good thing they are well camoflauged from predators...the males on the lek are absolutely beautiful birds....

Victoria and Albert Museum:
Examples of the works of Art in the Museum – South Kensington Museum – Published in 2 Volumes in 1881 – Book 1 - Plate Nos: 37 - 42
Sometime ago I posted some of the illustrations from the above book and I hoped that would be able to find them physically in the museum and photograph them. I took the third set of 15 illustrations from this book and went on the V & A website; Search the Collections. My results were based upon the following criteria:
(1) Items I did locate and photograph.
(2) Items that were in storage
(3) Items I couldn’t find anywhere
So I will be posting them, along with their locations in the museum, against the original plate and photograph from storage (where possible). The original price and any further information I might find.
One thing I didn’t count on, was that renovations would alter the interior of the building so drastically. I have found it very difficult to pin some of these locations down but in the main they have been found.
Not many of the examples shown this time were successful, as can be seen I only found 1 item.

An incredible local spot! With bad weather and an injury anything further than a local ride has been out of the question, but this made up for not being able to go far, Cavalier's of this era are a rare sight anywhere now, this is now MOT'd and taxed too.
It's funny here in the South when snow or Winter weather is forecast. This happens once or twice in the Winter season every year with anywhere from 5 inches to a foot of snow. The grocery stores sell out of bread and milk the day before it hits, all the schools close. Everyone except emergency workers hospital staff etc stays home. It's a party.
The roads are very dangerous ice snow ice combinations. The highways get salted but cars in the ditch just stay where they are until it melts. Usually in 5 or 6 days but the highways are clear in 3 days, ploughs are scarce down here. Then it's over until next time, a brilliant mini Winter break for most and Southerners take full advantage. The mountains get a lot more snow but even there it's inconsistent. Suits me fine unless I have to work and then it's no fun at all. Hospital staff that drive from outside Charlotte often are stuck at the hospital for a few days if they are scheduled a few days it a row. Not me I always go home even if I'm coming back next morning. I want to sleep in my own bed it sucks staying at the hospital for days. Those white knuckle rides let you appreciate being alive, nerve wrecking but not very busy. Slow and steady gets it done. :-)

Painted Lady Butterfly: -
This species is a migrant to our shores and, in some years, the migration can be spectacular. The most-recent spectacle, in 2009, is considered to be one of the greatest migrations ever, with sightings from all over the British Isles that are definitely on a par with previous cardui years.
This species originates from north Africa, and it has been suggested that the urge to migrate is triggered when an individual encounters a certain density of its own kind within a given area. This theory makes perfect sense, since this species can occur in high densities that result in food plants being stripped bare on occasion with many larvae perishing as a result.
Unfortunately, this species is unable to survive our winter in any stage. This is a real shame, for not only does this species often arrive in large numbers, but is a welcome sight as it nectars in gardens throughout the British Isles in late summer. This butterfly has a strong flight and can be found anywhere in the British Isles, including Orkney and Shetland. An interesting fact is that this butterfly is the only butterfly species ever to have been recorded from Iceland.

One of my favorite spots anywhere, on an uncharacteristically stormy midsummer's day. When the soft, diffused overcast light brought out the lush greens of the leaves and needles, reinvigorated after a much-needed rain. This is Valley View, in Yosemite National Park.

India Day 6 - Jaipur to Agra
Today is a transfer day, with astop at the spectacular Chand Baori Stepwell in Abhaneri. One of the finest (and largest examples of a stepwell to be found anywhere!). It was built in 7th century and is 13 levels deep!
