Couldn't sleep anymore because of the heat 30ºc in my bedroom, so I went outside to photograph a sunrise

317 Bleecker St apartment building. The shot was taken on Bleecker St and Groves St in the West Village district of Manhattan.The 6-story building was built in 1900. I didn't even know the four women faces were on this building's façade until I saw the shot later.What I like in the shot besides the faces however are the reflections of the fire escapes on the windows to the right,and the lines in the beautiful mosaic course bands above and below the faces.The monogrammed "G" on the fire escapes stands for Groves in the street name,which may have been added in the 1940's in one place I read.In the past residents used to keep their plants on the fire escapes if they didn't have room for them in the apartment,but they can't do that anymore.The sunlight was really on the building's façade, that the shadows are in red.
Cherry blossoms are one of the most beautiful floral trees of spring. This photo is from last year with a camera that I don't have anymore. This year our blooms are very delayed because the windy/cold temperatures that don't want to go away.

Trying to do it in the same camera, a challenge that we think and doing all kinds of tests until it goes more or less like that, with more than 5 shots the color is distorted a lot and the profiling is not good anymore, but I think the challenge we have managed ..

A scenery, you dont see so much anymore. Yesterday at last I had the chance to shoot again in a poppy field. Unfortunately the field was very small and because of all the photographers in a not so good condition. So I was satisfied with some detail shots.
Ein Anblick, den es leider nur noch selten gibt. Doch gestern hatte ich endlich mal wieder die Gelegenheit in einem Mohnfeld zu fotografieren. Leider war das Feld nicht sehr groß und durch die vielen Fotografen in keinem so guten Zustand. Darum beschränkte ich mich auf ein paar Detailaufnahmen.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is yellow day at Color my World Daily and it is also the 6th day of our renovations (the team doesn’t work on the weekends or rainy days…). So far, our garage is complete gone, we don’t have stairs anymore for our front door and also all around our house we have a very, very deep trench… All my backyard is covered with a huge pile of soil from the excavation, which is just in front of my pool. The pile was named in my honour by my husband and it is officially known as Mount Magda. There is heavy equipment everywhere and people are constantly stopping to look at our construction site… Some look at it with admiration, other are just shaking their heads in disbelief and asking the question : who are those fools renovating while the construction prices are so crazy ??? Happy yellow day to all !! Yes, it is my way of evading to answer the question about construction prices right now… I don’t want to know !!! This is the ostrich technique: put your head in the sand (or in my case in the ground !!) and pretend that your problems don’t exist !!!

At first, the sunset looked unspectacular and I wanted to pack up the camera. Luckily, I stayed a while longer and was able to photograph these dramatic sunset.

Dutch winter nature is, a bit, cold, but it has no snow anymore.
Here is a scene with a river, trees, grass and all the nice stuff you city guys are missing so much.
So, one of my ideas for 2020 is to make a nature walk in winter, the only problem here is that there is absolutely no winter in the Netherlands.
At some days we could even think it is spring already. But, one of the nice things about that, it is not slippery and wet.

Greg Godowitz does not perform often anymore. He is of Toronto's Rock-and-Roll scene, well known in Canada (1970's-1980's), but internationally relatively unknown. He is a singer, bass player and songwriter. He wrote two books about his almost 60 year career and rise-to-fame with his band Goddo and about the high life of a rock star. Not sure if he is planning comeback, but I have seen him playing more blues lately. Here, he responded to a message from Danny Marks and joined him on stage with some friends at Winterfolk Festival in February 2023.

Yesterday, I saw that I was not a member of a Flickr group anymore. In short, "kicked-out". I didn't break any rules neither posted anything obscene. I think I have HQ photos (pm me if I don't have). I actually supported this group that from time to time I award photos in their photo pool. I feel a bit bad because I don't know the "why" I was out of the group. I was thinking maybe my work are not good enough? Of course I know beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but doing such act to members reduces motivation, as well as inspiration specially to those who are still learning the art.
Anyway, I took the "higher path" - the path of understanding the admin / admins. If they feel they are gods that they can choose who they want to be part of their group then be it. They don't deserve respect and support at least from me. The fact that I have high regard for their group. Maybe they forgot they were newbies once...
I am thankful that most of the groups I support are not like this group. They are groups that nurture creativity, talent and friendships... And I see beauty in their photo pools. They showcase talents from professional and amateur Flickr users. They create a dynamic "melting pot" of people all over the world from different cultures and walks of life. They give chances to newbies like me to upgrade our game and learn from their works.
Ok, enough said... JUST SHARING MY THOUGHTS 😍 I guess my real life work in community inclusion and diversity just took a bit of me today 😇 thus writing what I observe and feel about this.
