.... between "I like you" and "I love you? "

Beautifully answered by Buddha :

When you like a flower, you just pluck it.

But when you love a flower, you water it daily.

One who understand this, understands life.

CSX's First Responders Unit #911 brings a massive M351-27 down the Sugar Creek sag and through the unique B&O signal setup at the north end of Lima yard.

This shot came from the same pier as the previous shot but a few hours earlier. The moment had me thinking of characters in movies who say to "Just sit and the answer will come to you." The question was of course what to photograph when the light was not right for what I wanted. So I sat and at my foot was this outgrowth of something, likely a weed. My mother-in-law used to say, "if it does not belong there it is likely a weed."

The blonde color of the item contrasted with the dark wood. And, it shone brightly as the low rays of the sun painted it on the dark canvas of wood. All I had to do was compose the image and my subject would stand out. So I reversed the leading lines and created a triangle that might lead the viewers eyes back to my little subject. The one that was sitting right beside me when I sat down to find an opportunity. I guess those really are all around us, we just need to take a moment to see them.

This post is dedicated to the memory of my brother, Art. There is not a day that goes by that I don't remember my brother, but lately for some reason, I've been thinking of him even more. I miss my brother and love him just as much as the day he left us. Art suffered severe depression...

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I met Orlagh on the stairs next to the Auckland City Gallery and to my surprise she answered the question "do you want to be my model?" with "yes".

It was only a 5 minutes shoot next to the gallery but I like her expression very much. So there will be an Orlagh mini series.

Answers on a post card if you know where ? I do remember the day so well and another reason to hang on to photo's... When we were getting my gear from out of the car I sipped over but as is always the case I think more of my camera and its safety than my own. It didn't help that the more I tried to get to my feet the more impossible it became. My husband and I were in stitches because I was on sheet ice lightly covered with snow and just kept slithering around in the same spot. I eventually got on to my knees and crawled to where I could get to my feet. My mind just remembers the name Goyt Valley so I'm hoping my brain hasn't got completely to pot yet :) Sue ...

No answers in that wind other than it was probably a mite chilly.

Hope everyone is off to good start to their week! Take care and continue to stay safe out there!

This elephant at the Rochester Seneca Park Zoo made it a point to come over and look at me when I walked by to take her photo.

the answer? I hope not, because I'm not going chasing after it!

I should be saving these as I'm likely going to be using archived shots for a while, but I can't help myself.

Enigmatic mystery in the shape of a girl

The shape of the world

Held in your hands, mouth pressed to the forehead

Of the future, the history of you before you knew

She exists, just another piece to fit

In the mosaic of your life, a mirror held to your eyes

Showing you, there's a reason for everything she'll do

Created out of unused space for you, where there might've been a star

A flower blooms, the seeds blown on the wind, intended

To bury her roots deep within you, to prove

You're important, and needed for the universe to breathe

She is your answer, for the question you didn't know you would end up asking.

HOODED MERGANSER (Lophodytes cucullatus)

Hooded Mergansers are the second smallest species of merganser, with only the Smew of Europe and Asia being smaller.

The Hooded Merganser is a sea duck, being able to dive for fish and staying underwater for some time and using its sawbill to catch and grip the fish.

Hooded Mergansers are short-distance migrants, wintering in the United States wherever temperatures allow for ice-free conditions on ponds, lakes and rivers.

The answer is a lot harder than some people make it look. I see so many wonderful images of waves and we had the perfect opportunity on Holywell Beach, we spent a couple of hours wondering at, and trying to photograph the amazing breakers, this is my first attempt. Had so much fun on the beach but it is proving very hard to get images that I like

The reason for our recent trip to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee…the Western Cottonmouth. Reelfoot is pretty famous in our part of the world for three main reasons: Amazing fishing (winter and spring only…it sucks in August), and the largest concentration of Bald eagles and cottonmouths in the Eastern USA.

I have been wanting to go back to Reelfoot to photograph the cottonmouths for many years now. This week my brother Gus and I made the 9-hour roundtrip drive and were blessed with two separate encounters. In this shot, we fired up the trolling motor and cruised alongside this beautiful adult viper.

My answer to bowlingdude's OICW build-off challenge. Done in PMG 0.6.

A yong boy once asked his teacher:

What is the difference between"I like you" and "I love you"?

The teacher answered:

Well, It's like a flower..

If you like a flower, you pluck it,

But if you love a flower, you water it and nurture it daily and watch it grow.

When we pluck a flower, not only will the flower die, but we can't experience it for any longer than that moment.

When you water it and take care of it daily, you can experience it for a long time.

The important lesson here is:

If you want meaning

If you want purpose

If you want fulfilment

Those things take time

La biodiversità vegetale è importante quanto la biodiversità animale, are you agree?

As part of my heterogeneous and very dispersive readings, I am reading the beautiful maps + guide book by Francesca Matteoni, illustrations by Amarilli Soriente, dedicated to the Shamans, ed. Vivid, 2023.

Today the paper drawn is Artemisia.

"Mugwort (artemisia vulgaris) grows in uncultivated and temperate areas, it is a perennial herbaceous plant with a reddish stem and leaves that shine silvery-white. It owes its name to the Greek goddess Artemis, lady of bears, woods and wild fields. For some, both Artemis and her brother Apollo had drawn their magical-therapeutic abilities respectively from the mugwort and the apple tree. Although it is considered a weed and wild plant, it never grows too far from human habitation - healing widespread in various parts of the world, testifies to its antiquity. Our ancestors already knew artemisia and cultivated it for the most varied purposes."

Reading this this morning triggered two memories for me. A childhood memory, my father who was born in the woods of Carnia, and who had bought a book on healing with herbs.

The other memory, an article in Fatto Quotidiano which concerned the victory of a small company producing a Cola-based drink against the multinational Coca-Cola.

Having worked for a short period in a fair trade shop, I remember the battles of indigenous communities against the exploitation of their products. However, I leave it up to you to search online if you are interested in the topic.

Plant biodiversity is as important as animal biodiversity, are you agree?

This morning we decided to through out the sofa, and burn it. We have been sleeping there since we moved in, but we are sure that something else also live in it. We hear how it prazzles, and something runs around in it..... not to mention all the residents we can´t see.......

We also cleaned up the mess, and the house feels a lot nicer to spend time in. We scrubbed the floors and walls, and cleaned all the windows. It was a hard job (it was really dirty), and we sat on the porch quite a while afterwards....... exhausted but happy. Stella started to talk about a bathroom....... well, I wish we had one. Probably that has to be priority one from now, but I need to find that leak first.

Another thing we discussed, was the hidden key we found hanging in the fireplace. Why was it hidden...... and why in the fireplace ? What was it for a key...... and where is the right lock for it ? Lots of questions, but no answers.

Tomorrow my brother come for a quick visit. Wonder what he thinks of this place......... this place which are going to be the crown of Stella´s and mine love story.

As we said : - " Don´t give it up. Let´s fight for hope and glory ! "

Good night...... sleep tight !
