Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a green day at Color my World Daily and a running /laundry folding day at my house. So why not celebrating with a green picture ?
And since I got all those new props from China why not try to incorporate them in my green picture ? So here it is : my vintage green book for a good read, a tiny reading lamp in case it is too dark (or you are just at this point in your life when you need extra lamp for reading…) and a tiny green house in case it is raining and you have to go inside in order to read your book…I hope you will like my picture !!
I have to run before folding my laundry and before all my motivation disappear !! See you later !!
Sorry for not answering my comments and not commenting your pictures as much as I should… I will try to catch up as soon as possible !! Until then, stay well and safe my friends !!
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!
Thank you, everyone, for the comments and faves to my posting last week of Salthenge. There were many questions from that shot, so I wanted to take time and answer for everyone.
Today's view of Salthenge includes two folding chairs to give it scale.

Q: Who created it?
A; Still unknown. I am betting on aliens, and its a secret signal
Q: Where are the footprints?
A: Further proof of aliens......this section of salt is rock hard and not like beach sand. Many areas of the lake has loose / soft salt that is fragile, but this area is sunbaked hard, like concrete.
A bigger problem is tracking dirt/sand on the salt and leaving those dirt footprints (I was extra careful)
Q: Where did the rocks come from?
A: Aliens or an area of rocks about 66 meters / 216 feet away
Q: How large is this?
A: Did my photo today help give it scale? Maybe I should let you know those folding chairs are 12.7cm /5 inches tall :-) No drone involved, just the mini chairs and my Sony a7iii :-)
Q: How long will it last?
A: Humans create things, and just as fast, they destroy things. It becomes much harder to take apart if it lasts a few months as the salt will act like concrete holding them in place.
Q: How big are the rocks?
A: The largest one is maybe 6 inches / 15cm. The entire circle is about 2 meters / 6.5 feet
Q: Roy wants to know why comments are always off
A: Roy, they are only off for you :-) No one else has this problem.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.

The question of the month is always : will there be leaves on the trees on May 1st or not. Three weeks ago we all thought that the answer was easy and there would be naked trees at the beginning of May. The warm end of April led to an explosion in nature and today we face a green paradise in our fields, gardens.
Thank you very much for favorites, comments and awards.
Since I have Problems with my ellbow i will not answer or answer only selectively the comments. Award comments I will not answer it is a "Give and take play" ;-)

Glückwunsch Brigitte, du wusstest es.
Ich dachte, dass es so offensichtlich sei, aber so kann man sich täuschen.
I thought that it was obvious what my detail photo showed yesterday but it wasn't. We all see different things and have different associations when we look at things. Thank you for all your comments
Monsoon, a glorious word. It is not an overstatement to say the entire west is on fire this year. It rained today, hard, soaking, drenching rain.. worth dancing in rain.

I do not know what to answer you. I would like that you feel better very simply ,and not being a cause of suffering.
Is the worst over - covid-wise? At least here, in the UK? Can we relax and sit back for a while? Not frantically booking future holidays in a kind of frenzy of self-rewarding, but breathing in and out deeply, thinking of what makes life worthwhile - here and everywhere else? Now, when our own lives are no longer threatened, can we begin to mourn the about 130 000 people who died in the UK from the pandemic?
Trying to catch up my delay ... (which becomes bigger and bigger) ... but I need to post a new photo from time to time ...
Thank you in advance for all your faves and comments. I might answer several WEEKS later. And I might post other photos in the meantime.
Macro Mondays theme is “In a Bottle”......The answer clearly is a Lemon, but How did it get there ??
Sometimes I wish that I knew more. Sometimes there are too many questions. Even worse when there are more than one answer.
Ha! I don't really care all that much. That is how I keep my good looks.
Happy Fence Friday
It's late December and hordes of photographers are currently converging on Big Sur's Pfeiffer beach from all over the world. As one puzzled visitor asked me last week, "What's with all the photographers? What are they shooting?" The answer, of course, is the light pouring through the Keyhole Arch which only happens from mid December through January each year.
Just out of curiosity, I headed back this year on solstice to see if the light was any better than two years ago but while I was there, I discovered that Pfeiffer offers far more for photographers than just the light in the Keyhole Arch. For starters, this photo isn't from the Keyhole. It's from another small archway just South of the keyhole. Most photographers completely ignore this spot since the multitudes are flocking the the larger archway to the North. Secondly, the TIDE is a huge factor in what type of light will make it through the arch and for how long. Even though I was there on December 21, the light we had two years ago was far superior to what we had this year as the high water level actually cut off the light through the arch with at least 10 minutes of golden sunlight left. And lastly, the entire area is an incredible location to shoot. In spite of the many opportunities on this stretch of coastline, I watched almost 50 photographers leave en masse as soon as the sun dipped below the horizon, migrating back to their cars in droves while there was still plenty of good light and sunset color in the sky. Why? The sunlight in the archway had disappeared, and to them, the show was now over.
For more tips on shooting the Keyhole arch AND the rest of Pfeiffer Beach, please feel free to check out

Dundas Square is Toronto's answer to Times Square with many advertising billboards. It is also site for outdoor concerts and festivals. It was a place for protests and demonstrations, until the authorities decided that in the name of Democracy, protests are only permitted for approved causes and for freedoms in countries far away. I was crossing the square, when the billboard above flooded the place with colour on otherwise grey drizzly day. The square was not always there. It opened in 2002 in effort to revitalize the area. To be honest, I should, but do not remember what was there before.

Finding a quiet place to read and concentrate on an email can be difficult in Sydney’s CBD. Here a man finds a sheltered corner which seems to do the trick.
I like the negative space and contrasts in light in this photo.

If only in the globe I could see the answers which I still seek.
Ones that may cause tears of joy or may cause ones of sadness.
Perhaps its best to not look with hope and let things be.

On many a hike I've pondered (yes, aloud) why am I doing this? On most of those occasions there has been a payoff of some sort. Today was something different. When I neared the pinnacle of the trail to Silver Falls and was hit by a sudden chill in the otherwise oppressive heat of the dense forest that I'd been traversing I knew that I'd found the falls that I sought. The moment that I topped the hill into the clearing facing this marvel is difficult to explain. I picked up the camera two years ago and ever since have tried to convey the beauty around me and today I stumbled upon a place of indescribable, soul wrenching, heart surging, peace inspiring beauty like I've never seen. This photo can not convey the sound of the boulders being heaved, the pounding of the flow as it raced by, the sheer knee shaking euphoria that one gets from standing here and witnessing this force of nature. Everyone in the world should stand right here for ten minutes, if they did there would be no more strife.

Karl Barth once said that Christian doctrine is truthful only to the extent that it ‘points beyond itself and summons us to hear not itself, but [Christ].’ 17 The Christian tradition, in Williams’ view, is the extension through time of that act of self-dispossessing witness. Tradition is a theological reality. It is not meant to answer all our questions; its aim is to point beyond itself, to formalize its own unfinishedness, to hold open a space for new encounters with what Flannery O’ Connor called God’s ‘dark and disruptive’ grace. 18 Tradition keeps the church in contact with its own traumatic origins: the dark grace of an empty tomb.

A friend asked me: "After all these Safaris you made, what are you looking for this time? What is it you like to snap this time?"
My answer was: "Honey Badger! We´v seen them often, but I never was able to get a clean shot of one of those guys. They always tend to disappear in the grass only allowing blurry butt shots."
As if someone had listened, luck was on our side and we had this lovely badger in hunting mode for several minutes. The critter never stood still but I was lucky enough to get some nice shots, at least.

on friday we learned that a long time flickr chum had passed away on thursday after a long battle with cancer. steve-h (stephen heron) was a supportive and long-time flickr-ite who took the time to stop by and to comment on pictures and to answer questions when flickr was flickering. he will be missed by the thousands of people who followed him. in the comment section below are 2 pictures that i found that put a face with the name. RIP, steve.
