I get the opportunity to photograph Pectoral Sandpipers on average... once a year in the Okanagan Valley. They pass through in numbers only in a window of mid-September to mid-October. Last year, my best shots were taken at the Kelowna Landfill, but this year, in the glowing evening of September 11th, I captured these two shots at Robert Lake.

Hello! Hope you're all well. It's been a couple of months since my last post, with the last throes of my degree course taking up most my spare time and annual leave. Hopefully I'll have chance to start getting out and about with my camera again after my exams in a coupel of weeks (just in time for the worst time of year for cathcing sunrises!).

In the meantime here are a few more from my last outing back in february - a pleasingly misty morning in the Peak District.

I've a page on facebook here - if you like my images please feel free to say hello and follow me on there too. Thank you.

What has become an annual event that just keeps on keeping on, is the Auto fest Spring car Nats held in Shepparton. Here is a link to the event organisers page, autofest.com.au/.

The event has been going for over 30 years, and for many there is no better way to spend the weekend than with like-minded people, as the entrants burn rubber with an excess of horsepower, that is thankfully quite obscene : )

There was and is everything from the go to woe, handling events, drifting, and of cause burn outs! Burnouts bouncing of the rev limiting, literally hitting the redline burnouts. How much rubber do they burn, enough so I can smell it from my house nearly a mile away : ) PS the smoke signals might be cultural appropriation, so some one should bring along a Pontiac and make it officially ok : P

Jack Danniels www.jackdaniels.com/en-au has a bar, so Tennessee is represented, although in the main part, not much American iron turns up at the event in comparison to the Australian contingent and Japanese cars.

V8s are the flavour, although you might be surprised like I was this year to see a Honda S2000 turn up, a pleasant inclusion, with one of the all-time great 4 bangers in it.

Black snot is a thing, that is if you can handle the close quarters action! You might like to take some year plugs, even then for about mile you will still be able to hear the cars at it.

As a car enthusiast I enjoy the day, friendly people getting their thing on, and having a great time.

PS. Make sure you drink lots of water, and keep hydrated!

"During a Hindu Upanayana ceremony, when an adult person changes the sacred thread, they typically chant a specific mantra, such as one to invoke the deities. The process often involves purification rituals like åcamana and the sprinkling of water, followed by a mantra for putting on the new thread."

Horatio joined us back in May last year but he's been off travelling the UK ever since. He came back just as the blossoms started to fail on the trees...

Damnit I missed all the good blossomage this year... I forgot about them last weekend and they're fast disappearing now. A last ditch attempt

Happy Sunday :)

Our first design is built!

Today I attended the annual show of the Syrian Photography Club... A lot of masterpieces were shown there, and I had the opportunity to meet some flickr friends, Ali (in this picture) and Madian, although they didn't recognize me, I managed to do so :) They are real masters!

I hope some day my photographs would find their way to such shows...

I thank you all for visiting and commenting :)

Annual Vintage Snowmobile Races in Sumpter Oregon.

A beautiful February day in Sumpter Oregon for the annual vintage snowmobile races.

Enjoyed a scenic winter day along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway for the annual Snowmobile Poker Run and Vintage Snowmobile Races. A fun day riding through the Elkhorn mountains on snowmobiles and exploring the historic god rush mining town of Sumpter.

The Elkhorn Scenic Byway is one of three Oregon scenic byways that connect in Baker County and offer visitors spectacular views of North East Oregon’s rugged landscape.

... not in the grass. Above my door, where one likes to camp out every year - except this year. I wonder why none this year? It's a good place to be, up near the patio lights. This shot is from last year, and she has captured what appears to be a Meadow Spittlebug. I like seeing the structure of her web and the way she stands on it - with these above my door, I always see their bellies since they stand upright on their webs instead of hanging under like some other spiders. This somehow makes me less afraid they're going to drop down on me when I pass beneath.

These beautiful star lights go up every year at the Christmas Season to signify Hope for the patients at St. Paul's Hospital in downtown Vancouver, BC. A tall Christmas tree can be seen also, and now shown, but also up every year, is a huge cross with more decorations.
