We went on the Dolphin Harbor ride at sunset. The boat captain saw me taking pictures of the place and slowed down. The lighthouse is privately owned and the captain said the light only comes on when the owner wants to turn it on..:) Sure. Anyway, I got lucky and the guy turned it on for us. Here's some more info:
The Aransas Pass Light Station was one of original Texas stations of the Lighthouse Service, that was formed in 1851, and merged into the Coast Guard in 1939.
The lighthouse is the second oldest on the Texas coast and the oldest surviving structure in the Aransas Pass-Corpus Christi area
When the Aransas Pass shifted, the light station was not needed and a new light was installed on Port Aransas. The Light was extinguished and the property delisted in 1952, and the property considered surplus. It was sold at auction in 1955. The channel was renamed Lydia Ann Channel and the light station Lydia Ann Light Station.
Current
H-E-B CEO Charles Butt purchased the light station, hired a caretaker, remodeled and restored the structures after a hurricane, and put the automated lighthouse back into service in 1988. It is currently the only light station on the Texas coast to have an on-site caretaker

The St Ann's Catholic Church. Located on Mackinac Island, between Michigan's Lower & Upper Peninsulas. The island allows no motorized vehicles. Here it is presented as an impressionist painter might have shown it years ago.

After attempting to get L303 with a CSX 70MAC which the crew got deadheaded to Detroit, the next best thing was to get GLC 329 on a grain train with a few extra other cars thrown into the mix on a snowy Sunday afternoon in Howell Michigan at the Ann Pere Diamond heading back north.

I just don't own any little tiny photo props that fit the description "mini." It was a choice of Raggedy Ann or my husband's 1960's WW2 GI Joe collection. Thank you Raggedy Ann, you were my first doll...always there for me:)
Have a lovely day and thank you for dropping by!

this is my mom (in the back of the boat, running the motor) and my aunts Ann (center) and Susan (front), sitting in a little motorboat on Lake Champlain, in a town called Cedart Beach, Vermont, where they spent their summers growing up -- pretty sure this was taken in summer 1958
it's one of my favorite family photos, and so took it out of it's frame today & scanned it...
