This Song Sparrow came down from its favorite song perch and posed nicely for me. Seen at the Los Angeles County Arboretum.

I redo of an image of Mono Lake. Taken a few years ago from an Eastern Sierra Trip with Mimi. Explored!

On a quiet winter morning, at mid-tide, a rapturous dawn erupts as if it were trying to roil the placid seas along the beach at the Botany Bay boneyard, near Edisto, South Carolina.

I've enjoyed quite a number of kaleidoscopic sunrises among the stoic remnant live oaks at Botany Bay, and I usually favor photographing those still standing solitary or in small groups against the relentless waters, but this morning I spent some time among those fallen but as yet unbowed.

This is an almost eight second exposure of that first rich, colorful light of the emerging morn.

Thanks for viewing.

Breaking storms in the mountains are always magical. After driving for hours into the Canadian Rockies in a torrential downpour this was the scene which greeted me upon arrival. Couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off a week of shooting.

Monferrato hills, Piedmont, Italy. Langhe, Roero and Monferrato are places among precious wines, villages and castles. Wonderful landscapes sculpted by the combined action of nature and man, gentle hilly expanses dotted with wines as far as the eye can see, ancient villages surrounded by fields and imposing castles perched on hilltops.

Wideroe 8326 from Trondheim, i read on a Norwegian Facebook page that Wideroe flies charters for Kværner (which is a Norwegian oil company) to Stord, Gdansk, Krakow, Stockholm, Dublin, Newcastle and Aberdeen, among others.

Les Vulcains font partie des premiers papillons à sortir après le long hiver.

Excellente journée à toutes et à tous.

Vulcans are among the first butterflies to come out after the long winter.

Have a good day everyone.

Among a large number of SD70M's, a pair of baby tunnel motors sit stored at the former HB&T Congress Yard near Downtown Houston on a sunny Spring morning.

Both former Missouri Pacific units, UPY 660 was built as MP 1660 and UPY 638 was built as MP 1638. And UPY 638 is still wearing its North Little Rock-style block lettering from the mid-80's, with some Jenks Blue showing through.

Along the California coast, on scenic highway 1, you can find a place where the Calla lilies grow wild at the right time of the year. This past weekend I headed to explore if the bloom was early as we've had a warmer than usual weather recently.

STRANGER AMONG YOU

I walk this earth,

at times both student and teacher

I seek out, unknown to me,

those who may need me,

those whom I may need

My Father delivers me

unto you, you unto me

A purpose divine

is served continuously

Many have known me

without ever truly knowing me

I have given unto you

that which you have allowed,

you take from me as you please

I walk on, both student and teacher

~~~
Icelandic Poppies. LOVE the papery texture!
Papaver nudicaule or Iceland Poppy, with large, papery, bowl-shaped, lightly fragrant flowers supported by hairy, one foot, curved stems among feathery blue-green foliage 1-6 inches long.
They were first described by botanists in 1759.
Cultivars come in shades of yellow, red, orange, salmon, rose, pink, cream and white as well as bi-coloured varieties.
All parts of this plant are likely to be poisonous, containing (like all poppies) toxic alkaloids: ALWAYS wash you hands thoroughly after handling ANY flowers/plants!I like my garden to be a haven for bees and butterflies.
People smile when they pass... because of the colours, I mix herbs and flowers, it is semi-wild?
I let it 'overgrow' in a controlled way, simply because I do not like weeding AND I do not have enough time.
Well, it was inevitable that from some neighbouring garden, some of the wild yellow poppies were eventually be carried by wind or bird?
They look lovely in their bright yellow frocks and are a real honey-trap for bees!
I never saw the wild yellow in Belgium, only red ones, gave family there some seeds and yet they have NEVER managed to grow them...
With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, have a great w-e, M, (* _ *)
Azul is one of my favorite stores and they finally made a dress for Reborn. I had to have it. I hope there are many more to come. I love the attention to detail in their dresses.
Are there extraterrestrials living among us on earth? What do they do? These are the type of questions humans have debated for ages, and after a weekend at Death Valley National Park, I believe I am ready to solve them. Speculate no more, as aliens are playful creatures who, it turns out, live in the mountains around The Racetrack Playa and come out every full moon to move around rocks.
Why you might ask, would aliens do this when there are so many things they could see and do on earth? The answer is simple: to mess with tourists. It’s probably a higher calling on their planets. As the legend goes, no one has ever seen these rocks in Death Valley National Park move. Nonsense. As the hit film Men in Black taught us, aliens have the power to erase our minds. Heck, there’s a good chance I saw aliens the night I took this photo. I don’t remember seeing them, but I cannot say definitively that I did not see them....
One of the most peaceful time among my traveller experiences...
Seen during heavy rain
Closeup of a blooming poppy among other flowering wild plants on the side of a country road. The photo was taken on a spring day just after a heavy rain shower. Small water droplets are still visible.
