The AMC Pacer was built between 1975 and 1980. It was one of the first compact cars from an American manufacturer. The rounded shape and large glass area were unusual compared with the three-box designs of the era. Technically it was a rather conservative car with a six cylinder in-line engine and rear wheel drive. Due to its special styling the Pacer featured in a number of films.

I saw this AMC Pacer while getting an emissoins test on my Jeep (a $20 donation to the state of CT) on Tuesday. Pretty cool, not many of these around.
"The AMC Old Mill Six Theatres was built in 1975 as part of the Old Mill Speciality Center. Located at 2540 California Street, the theatres remained opened after most of the shops in the Old Mill closed. The theatres were finally demolished in 1994 to make room for the Crossings housing development."
The AMC Hornet is a compact automobile which was manufactured and marketed by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) in a single generation from model years 1970 through 1977. The Hornet replaced the compact Rambler American marking the end of the Rambler marque in the American and Canadian markets.
The new Hornet became an important vehicle and platform for AMC. It served the company in one form or another for eighteen years, until the 1988 model year. It would outlast all other compact platforms from the competition that included the Chevrolet Nova, Ford Maverick, and Plymouth Valiant. The Hornet was also the basis for AMC's Gremlin, Concord, Spirit, and the innovative all-wheel drive AMC Eagle.
The car was part of the 2022 McPherson College CARS show (Cruise In Night). The college offers a four-year program in classic car restoration. This car is an AMC Ambassador and has been in the same family for several generations. I believe the car is a 1972.

The AMC Eagle is a compact four-wheel drive passenger vehicle manufactured and marketed by American Motors Corporation (AMC) model years 1980 to 1987 and Chrysler Corporation, following its acquisition of AMC in 1987, for the 1988 model year.
Introduced in August 1979 for the 1980 model year, the coupe, sedan, and station wagon body styles were based on the AMC Concord.
For 1988, its final model year, only a station wagon was offered, which was marketed as the "Eagle Wagon". However, the name continued to be used by Chrysler Corporation as the Eagle brand of cars through 1998.
The AMC Eagles were the only four-wheel drive passenger cars produced in the U.S. at the time. All models featured "passenger-car comfort, plus 4WD security for all-weather security."Although the description was not in use at the time, the AMC Eagle is recognized as one of the first crossover vehicles.
The objective was for affordable cars offering a comfortable ride and handling on the pavement together with superior traction in light off-road use through AMC's innovative engineering and packaging.
The 1980 Eagle's appearance differed from the Concord's in that the bodies were raised 3 in (76 mm) further off their suspension to afford better ground clearance. To fill in the increased visual space between the tires and wheel wells, AMC used durable Kraton (polymer) plastic wheel arch flares that flowed into rocker panel extensions.
The Pacer is a bit of a conundrum - it has been seen by history as a joke car and a failure - a lemon. Yet it adopted many of the changes that the 'Big Three' Detroit makers said would be too difficult.
I was small on the outside (at least in length), and spacious on the inside. It had excellent all-round visibility, thanks to the greatest amount of glass of any car of the time.
It wasn't as slow as it may have looked either, as it also had an optional V8 engine.
In the end it was too much different, too fast, during an era of economic recession from a car maker who was always low on funding. AMC fell into the hands of French maker Renault in 1979, and then folded into Chrysler in 1987.
