Hyacinthoides non-scripta was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his seminal 1753 work Species Plantarum, as a species in the genus Hyacinthus.[2] The specific epithet non-scriptus[Note 1] means "unlettered" or "unmarked" and was intended to distinguish this plant from the classical hyacinth of Greek mythology. This mythical flower, which was almost certainly not the modern hyacinth,[3] sprang up from the blood of the dying prince Hyacinthus. His lover, the god Apollo, shed tears that marked the new flower's petals with the letters "AIAI" ("alas") as a sign of his grief.[4]

The early stage of a new Pincushion Flower beginning to bloom. This photo was taken at night in our garden. I ordered a new to me, used, Nikon macro lens. Nikon calls theirs micro lens. It arrived late afternoon on Friday. It's the Nikon Nikkor AF 200 mm f4 D ED Micro prime lens. I'm posting the first three photos taken with this lens. I'm still learning it's sweet spot, yet I can already tell that it will perform better than my old eye sight will allow. It's an older lens with an all metal body. It's built like a tank. I own the Nikon AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED Lens already, and have used it many times. I like this one better. This new lens was highly rated by both Pros, and Amatures, to be the best Macro lens Nikon made. This lens will see a lot of use, and hopefully I can live up to it's potential.

What a beautiful end to 2019 on my early morning walk yesterday. The beautiful Beardies made an appearance ❤️

Yeah, I took some night courses to escape my 9-5. You may think I am lounging around but I am here to catch a man cheating on his wife. This is my first case and I am here because I had been following the husband, He comes here to this dark place every Friday and meets a Buxom Blond. I have heard people calling her Lily. In the background, I hear a huge fan and people chattering. I don't even smoke but the cigar is part of my blending in , This Newspaper? It's a blur. I am watching them dancing and recording it. Hey, it's none of my business what he does but I do this cos I am, Gabriel: PI

I'm new at taking pictures, so any and all advice is welcome!

I have always admired photographs of lightening, they are so dramatic. I have wondered about the different elements that need to come together to capture that perfect shot. Right place and right time, having all your kit with you, choosing the right lens. There are so many variables that it seems almost impossible for an amature such as myself to bag a reasonable shot.

Last night outside of my window a super storm unfolded. I was still up at 0100 hrs and I had all my kit to hand. After watching the storm travel up the coast for 10 minutes I suddenly realised that this could be the opportunity to try and get a shot. So here it is. The best of the bunch from a storm that lasted 20 minutes off the coast of Teignmouth last night.
