modern society has become materialistic and prefers "having" to "being" ...
there is always a discrepancy between self-perception and being mirrored in/by other people ... ;-) ...

The final shot of the day is ready
The suns sets and burns the sky
I close my eyes and feel the glow
Then turn away and went home.
A bit of tweaking makes it look better - well I did wait for ages!

For the Definitely Dreaming week 19/52 theme of "All Alone". This Pacific Black Duck was sitting resting all alone at Craigieburn Lake, but was still "watchful".
During my recent trip out to Arizona, I would always wake up extremely early due to jet lag. I didn't mind because I liked the peacefulness and the beautiful light that would cast shadows throughout the house.
A tree stands all alone. It merely exists within the beauty of nature, but it has no family, no surrounding buddies and it expects no company, no news, nothing. It is not really a tree, but a broken heart with its life slowly ebbing away… Will the broken heart’s forthcoming death resonate in the colors of the glorious sunset?
One little tulip standing all alone!!

Living in a big city is a way to be alone amongst the crowds. One often feels completely isolated whilst people are rushing past, busy with their own lives and thoughts. Or in this case someone talking on the phone rather than interacting with others around them.
Melbourne foot traffic and laneway dining is certainly back to normal from this shot.
Degraves Street, Melbourne CBD. Using my Lensbaby. For Definitely Dreaming week 37: All alone
After many visits, I wanted to try something slightly different, this time in post processing. The path is lightened which draws the eye inwards and the water to the left boosted in colour. The height of the camera means you can see the church as more on a peninsular reached only by this path. A nice sunset always helps too!
The image title is from a UK group called no-man, the song is winding and melancholic in its meaning.
Language... has created the word "loneliness" to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word "solitude" to express the glory of being alone. - Paul Johannes Tillich
Where the sun's going low but where the waves are still dancing and all still aglow.
Any beach at all, where there is sand and some water and I'll play all alone till I've captured and caught her....
That is complete and utter doggerel....but my longing for the beach is making me wax lyrical lol.....
I woke up with a lot more cloud than I had expected and wasn't motivated. Oh, how wrong I was and should of been more alert. Even though I only managed a couple of shots, I am glad the fleeting opportunity was there.
For those of you who have not visited Africa, you get to see huge expanses of grassland (savannah) disappearing into the horizon with small hills and valleys, dotted with herds of animals busy feeding on the never ending grass plains.
A bull Elephant is seen busy feeding on the savannah plains of Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
Interior of a deserted abandoned workshop strewn with old equipment and stuff at Stanton Ironworks, Derbyshire, UK, sunlight squeezes through small holes in the tin roof.

The Cottage on the Loch Buidhe Road; every time I go to Scotland I take a ride along this road to Loch Buidhe and this cottage always takes my attention, who lives there, who is it for, I never see a car there and it never look worse for wear so it must be used for something, possible in the hunting season who knows but I would love to go inside and have a look. Maybe if anyone who sees this know they could tell me?
You are feeling all alone, extremely weary, worn and lifeless from the autumn decay and destruction you experienced in the past season. And somehow you’re still here, still holding on in this harsh, biting cold winter season which feels impossible to survive. Try to keep holding on, maybe it won’t always feel like this.

Yesterday while struggling intensely I saw this leaf from inside our home and thought of the phrase “holding on” and also the feeling of being all alone and managed to go take some pictures of it. Seeing this, the thoughts it brought to mind and the process of photographing this was helpful for me.
All alone in the farmer's field ... the trees in the background are not within this field!

On a beautiful Spring afternoon I saw this tiny white speck in a totally dark blue sky. It was so strange that I thought it was a UFO, but on maximum zoom I photographed this solitary cloud.
Was it trying to find it family?
Did all the others get evaporated by the hot sun and this was the last dwindling remnant?
Was this a cloud that follows someone cursed who is always in shadow?
Did it's shape indicate it is a secret spacecraft disguised as a cloud?
Or was it a cloud that just wanted to be on it's own for a while?
