While traveling near Hakone, Japan, I went to a small waterfall just a short walk off the road. In less than stellar light, I was able to catch this shot which helped me appreciate the lovely place that this was. Life Giving Water 04.17.2024 108

Death Valley, USA.
Shortly after the sun peaked over the horizon, the dunes came alive with multitude of textures, shapes and shadow play. The view changed very quickly. I have waited until the light started to lick the surface of the sand just in front of me. And then, I have pressed the shutter.

Ahhh Spring. I love this time of year when everything is coming alive again. In this shot, I was testing a new Macro lens I just got, the Sigma 105 2.8 . So far, I like it!
There is something special about steam on a cool crisp morning. they look and sound alive. 611 racing toward Charlotte on Sunday Morning.
It always amazes me how these trees cling to life through all the trials and tribulations that this desolate landscape sends it's way. I'd imagine this tree was hit by lightning at one point, yet part of it still looks vibrant. The monsoon season here frequently passes through with violent storms, but it can also be a desolate place.
I miei colori preferiti si mischiano nella parte della giornata che amo di piu'. Blue hour, golden hour, fate un po' voi, non ho ritoccato praticamente niente. Io mi sento davvero fortunata ad essere viva e godere di questo.
This is an early morning shot where the morning glow starts to awaken the famous rock formations in The Garden Of The Gods Park in Colorado Springs, CO, USA. Enjoy.

Sometimes I forget how long I've lived compared to others, and am only reminded when I refer to something I assume they know about, only to realise it was well before they were born.
When I first saw the wrecked DC-3 at Solheimasandur it lay below me down a slight slope in the midst of a barren and snowy wasteland. I could see a small group of people standing near its front looking at it as if they didn't know what to do. Like survivors. There was a weak sun in the sky which accentuated the wreck and bodies against the snow. It illuminated how small they were in the landscape: lost on the vast white wilderness. It brought back powerful memories for me.
They were memories of a true story, a film. On Friday 13th, October 1972 a Uruguayan passenger plane crashed into snow covered mountains high in the Andes in South America, Close to the border between Argentina and Chile.
Of the 45 people on board, there was a whole rugby team of young men, with some friends and relatives accompanying them on the trip. Only seven died in the initial crash. But many were injured and succumbed to their injuries and the cold. And of those who survived the first few days, half those remaining died when an avalanche hit the aircraft wreck they were using as a shelter. In the end 16 survived for 72 days in the frozen summits of the Andes. But only because they eventually decided to eat the bodies of their dead team-mates. It's a gruelling film, called "Alive", full of pain, but also heroism.
When these youngsters popped their heads out of the windows, they might have looked just like those in the real-life story. Whether they were smiling because someone was taking their photo, or because they had spotted me, a well fattened meal or two on legs, I don't know, but I just can't get the scene of the wrecked plane out of my head. Here's a short film about it www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfOTeudQY5s
A very, very long time ago I posted a shot entitled Emergence (flic.kr/p/2hWPoqh). In it I gave a brief overview of the South Chicago and Indiana Harbor Railway. I haven't paid hardly any attention to the Short Line since then, inflicted with yet another case of "don't pay attention to what's in my backyard" syndrome. But recently I've been realizing how much I've missed out on by not paying much attention to the railroad.
Flash forward to about a month ago, I heard the strangest claim that these guys had stored all their power with little chance of taking them out, which led me to investigate them around the same time I started looking for B09, another recent way-late-to-the-party instance.
Thankfully, it didn't take very long to realize that my assumption was correct in this certainly NOT being the case.
These guys are the absolute last thing I'd expect to see moving around on a Saturday morning, but to prove me wrong, here is the railroad's own #31 dropping down to street level with three coil cars for eventual forwarding to the BRC right across the NS from here. It goes without saying that the lead pictured here, which heads west into the railroad's dinky yard and shops in the East Side neighborhood of South Chicago, has become quite jungly as of late.
With all of that being said, I've began looking for these guys as much as I humanly can with daylight rapidly dwindling day to day. Expect much much more of them, along with some very long descriptions of the history and operations of this fascinating railroad.

People say that we're searching for the meaning of life.
I don't think that's it at all.

I think that what we're seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.

When you climb across very wet rocks and the sound of some massive falls are around you and one little wrong step will have you very wet i feel so alive. I love being in these places as it gives the heart an extra boost and the pureness of the place just makes you feel fantastic. Man I love photography
We did a wonderful hike on the Bruce Trail in a gentle rain and drizzle. Although we were more focused on the hiking than photography, I could not help but try to capture some of the life showing up suddenly on the forest floor. Another week and the Trilliums will be out.
This year, our little lemon tree gradually lost all its leaves and looked like a green stick for quite a while. Just when we had decided to pull it out of the ground, I noticed this tiny little shoot just 10mm long. I'm pleased to report that now, around ten days after taking this shot, it is bursting with new growth and looking the picture of health!
Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!
"Is something wrong?" she said, well of course there is
"You're still alive," she said, oh, and do I deserve to be?
Is that the question?
And if so, if so who answers? Who answers?
[Chorus]
I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey, I, hey, I'm still alive
