It was only afterwards that I notice that though this side of the bridge is set in Autumn, the opposite side seems to be set in Winter. I really dont know as I got hopelessly lost there on that particular day. Maybe Im still there!!!! Id better check!!!! You know what? To hell with it, if I am I like it here and Im staying!

The villa along the shore of Lake Como was built between 1808 and 1810 for Francesco Melzi d'Eril (1753-1816), Duke of Lodi, Vice President of Italian Republic under Napoleon and afterwards Gran Chancellor of the Napoleonic Reign of Italy. It became his residence at the end of his political career and afterwards his summer residence.

A view looking SW from Mt. Alyeska across the Turnagain Arm at low tide toward the Kenai mountains.
"Turnagain Arm was named by William Bligh of HMS Bounty fame. Bligh served as Cook's Sailing Master on his 3rd and final voyage, the aim of which was discovery of the Northwest Passage. Upon reaching the head of Cook Inlet, Bligh was of the opinion that both Knik Arm and Turnagain Arm were the mouths of rivers and not the opening to the Northwest Passage. Under Cook's orders Bligh organized a party to travel up Knik Arm, which quickly returned to report Knik Arm indeed led only to a river.
Afterwards a second party was dispatched up Turnagain Arm and it too returned to report only a river lay ahead. As a result of this frustration the second body of water was given the disingenuous name "Turn Again".

female Tiger in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh, India. We were the first vehicle that found her on the road marking her territory. Afterwards she went to a pond.
After heavy and late monsoon rains the grass was very tall in many grassland areas in Madhya Pradesh so we could not see her while she was drinking.

I went hiking with some friends and afterwards we went to this old restaurant in Austin for some BBQ. The place is called,"Freedman's", because it was originally a Freedman's lodge. While I was walking around looking for a good shot, I spotted this and thought it might be a good slider..;) You can see the daylight inside, the roof is long gone but the food is so good people keep going. A lot of history but not much parking. Austin has grown up around it.
In the on going story about my home repairs, I think the crews will be finished on Monday. It has taken longer because when you repair an old house you find old problems behind walls..;( And, I added some things to the list as well. Cost have soared. I've found you just have to say stop! I'm only going to replace the area rugs downstairs and than I'm finished..;)

I was photographing 2 houses in the opposite direction and I heard this snow plow come up behind me. I turned around and here is the photo. This topic turned out to be better than what I was working on. I was snowed by the snow plow afterwards.
Je photographiais 2 maisons dans la direction opposée et j'ai entendu cette déneigeuse venir derrière moi. Je me suis retourné et voici la photo. Ce sujet s'est avéré meilleur que ce sur quoi je travaillais. J'ai été enneigé par la déneigeuse par la suite.
Tomorrow is Blanca's 5th birthday! She has been feeling happy and frisky lately and running at full speed on the beach with no apparent soreness afterwards. Maybe the joint supplements are helping! :) There is a Michael Jackson song called Speed Demon, never my favorite, but I thought of it for this title!

Last autumn I dare to shoot in heavy rain the first time. I admit, that I was a bit tense because of the question, how my technic was going to deal with it. Because even if I did take care of holding away the water as much as I could, everything was quite wet afterwards. Finally my equipment did withstand everything very good and the photos I made that day are speaking for one, or better multiple, repetition.
Im letzten Herbst hab ich mich das erste mal getraut, im ströhmenden Regen fotografieren zu gehen. Ich gebe zu, ich war schon etwas angespannt bei der Frage, ob die Technik das alles so verkraftet. Denn obwohl ich mir Mühe gegeben habe das Wasser weitestgehend fern zu halten, war dann alles trotzdem ganz schön nass. Schlußendlich hat mein Equipement alles gut überstanden und die Bilder, die an dem Tag entstanden sind plädieren eindeutig für eine, oder besser mehrfache, Wiederholung.

Scheveningen Pier
The Scheveningen Pier is a pier in the North Sea near Scheveningen (Holland). Opened in 1961 and replaced the old pier from 1901, the building serves as a catering, shopping and entertainment complex. The pier consists of a fully covered pedestrian promenade with an open walking deck above it and four islands at the end. On the rear island on the right (the tower island) is a watchtower with a viewing platform at 45 meters height that offers - up to 17 kilometers - in ideal weather conditions. At the foot of it is a pancake restaurant and on the tower there is a bungee jumping installation and here you can also float to the front island with a cable car.
In the building on the front island on the left (called solar island or South island) is a restaurant (Pier South). The steel island added to the pier afterwards is furthest from the sea and is the only one not directly connected to the pedestrian promenade, but to the solar island.
A 42-meter Ferris wheel has been commissioned on the front island on the right.
I captured this image whilst ski touring in the Dauphiné Alps, France. Shortly afterwards I was in complete whiteout whilst descending!

Marco starts another long walk in beautiful Maastricht. From the station he walks through the center along narrow atmospheric streets to the fort. Soon afterwards he is in the nature reserve. He immediately feels in his element when he makes his way through the beautiful green surroundings. While taking pictures, Marco often pays attention to the position and shape of the clouds. The cloud formations continue to amaze him. So also this time. On the trail he pauses to view the picturesque landscape from all angles. Marco takes a picture and knows already so early in the day that this was certainly not the last.

Marco begint weer aan een lange wandeling in het mooie Maastricht. Vanaf het station loopt hij via het centrum langs smalle sfeervolle straatjes naar het fort. Al snel is hij daarna in het natuurgebied. Hij voelt zich gelijk in zijn element wanneer hij zich een weg baant door de fraaie groene omgeving. Tijdens het maken van foto's let hij veelal op de stand en vorm van de wolken. De wolkenformaties blijven hem nog immer verwonderen. Zo ook deze keer weer. Op het pad blijft hij even stilstaan om het schilderachtige landschap van alle hoeken te bekijken. Hij maakt een foto en weet nu al zo vroeg op de dag dat dit zeker niet de laatste was.

AAW Jan 30 to Feb 6: Shallow Depth of Fiels
WIT: I love these espresso glasses, and thought they'd make a nice picture, I wanted to make the middle handle the focal point, so used the narrowest DOF on my lens, f1.2. Converted to BW afterwards.
Meine 30 Tage Challenge neigt sich nun langsam dem Ende entgegen und ich bin echt ein bisschen froh wenn ich es dann doch endlich geschafft habe. :D So schön es auch ist, meine Werke zu präsentieren - der Austausch mit euch kommt aufgrund dessen leider etwas zu kurz. Zeit ist echt ein Rares Gut. ^^ Ich werde im Anschluss einen schönen Walk zu euch machen... :) Ps.: Die Aufmerksamen unter euch werden sicher erkannt haben, dass mein heutiges Bild nochmal ein Nachschlag vom Baumkronenpfad ist. :)

one day of "heavy" snowfall - at least for our region, approx 25cm snow is very much - and afterwards an almost clear night (some clouds were moving) and only little wind, i managed to center polaris above the old wine press house 5min by walk from our home and shot some star trails.

... is a castle in Tyrol, Austria, that was constructed in the year of 1150 by the lords of Freundsberg.
Burg Freundsberg is 675 metres (2,215 ft) above sea level.
Originally the castle consisted out of a single keep, which is still intact up to this date.
The chapel next to it was built afterwards in the year 1117.
