It was only afterwards that I notice that though this side of the bridge is set in Autumn, the opposite side seems to be set in Winter. I really dont know as I got hopelessly lost there on that particular day. Maybe Im still there!!!! Id better check!!!! You know what? To hell with it, if I am I like it here and Im staying!

Eng 💨 The wind was blowing very hard and the sea was unleashed. And as I was on a sandy path, grains were hitting my camera. Afterwards, I realized that I had seriously damaged the lens in this storm ... but I wanted this photo!
Esp 💨 El viento soplaba muy fuerte y el mar estaba embravecido. Y como estaba en un camino arenoso, los granos golpeaban mi cámara. Posteriormente, me di cuenta de que había dañado gravemente la lente en esta tormenta ... ¡pero quería esta foto!
Fra 💨 Le vent soufflait très fort et la mer se déchaînait. Et comme j'étais sur un chemin sablonneux, des grains frappaient mon appareil photo. Par la suite, j'ai réalisé que j'avais gravement endommagé la lentille dans cette tempête ... mais je la voulais cette photo!

"Turnagain Arm was named by William Bligh of HMS Bounty fame. Bligh served as Cook's Sailing Master on his 3rd and final voyage, the aim of which was discovery of the Northwest Passage. Upon reaching the head of Cook Inlet, Bligh was of the opinion that both Knik Arm and Turnagain Arm were the mouths of rivers and not the opening to the Northwest Passage. Under Cook's orders Bligh organized a party to travel up Knik Arm, which quickly returned to report Knik Arm indeed led only to a river.
Afterwards a second party was dispatched up Turnagain Arm and it too returned to report only a river lay ahead. As a result of this frustration the second body of water was given the disingenuous name "Turn Again".

From a recent trip to LoPresti park in Eastern Boston. The sunset itself was a slight disappoint, but the mood right afterwards was quite special. This is a great location for views of the Boston skyline.

It’s a small butterfly with gleaming blue upper part, narrow black line near the edges and white tassel. The lower part is grey brown with black, wit rim spot and a range orange spots along the edges of the behind wings. Females are of above brown, with some blue and orange spots. The span of the wings is about 25 mm. In the Netherlands they live everywhere in the country. You must seek them, but if you do, you will find them. In one year comes 1 till 3 new generations out of the eggs.
The butterflies and the caterpillars suck nectar. They get it from flowers from difference sorts of spice. Some of the caterpillars try to over live the winter, and comes in spring out of the cocoons. The further development goes afterwards very fast, of generation on generation. There very many blue ones exist and it is often a laborious work, distinguish them of each other. A lake or less clear blue color to the upper part, and small spots around the eyes, is to base is all types own. The caterpillars of some types become by fiddle visited, because the sweet juice which they break away.

female Tiger in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh, India. We were the first vehicle that found her on the road marking her territory. Afterwards she went to a pond.
After heavy and late monsoon rains the grass was very tall in many grassland areas in Madhya Pradesh so we could not see her while she was drinking.

Unfortunately I had a problem with flickr and with this post. So I have to repost my shots from yesterday and today. I hope You don’t mind.
When I stood in the forest swamp near Grossdittmannsdorf I felt like I had walked far back in time. As the rising sun was shining through the morning mist I could surmise like the world could have looked like many thousand years ego. I expected a T-Rex ore a Veliceraptor emerging between the trees any moment. A really surreal moment. Afterwards I'm glad, that non of them was approaching. Only a pair of grey herons felt annoyed by me and came across insulting very loud.
Als ich an diesem Morgen im Waldmoor bei Grossdittmannsdorf stand fühlte ich mich, als wäre ich in der Zeit weit zurück gewandert. Als die aufgehende Sonne durch den Morgendunst schien konnte ich erahnen, wie die Welt vor vielen tausend Jahren ausgesehen haben könnte. Jeden Moment erwartete ich, dass ein T-Rex oder ein Velociraptor zwischen den Bäumen auftaucht. Ein surrealer Moment. Im Nachinein bin ich jedoch sehr froh, dass keiner von beiden gekommen ist. Lediglich ein Pärchen Graureiher fühle sich von mir belastigt und kam sich lautstark beschwerend vorbei.
Ahu Tongariki, Easter Island, Chile
Of all the ahu in Easter Island, the most prestigious and the most impressive one is certainly Tongariki, which has 15 statues located in front of the Rano Raraku quarry.
The statues were toppled during the island's civil wars and in the twentieth century the statues were destroyed by a huge tidal wave in 1960, but the site was restored afterwards, including an 86 tonnes moai that was the heaviest ever erected on the island.

J'aurais aimé le prendre en photo en entier, mais je lui ai donné de l'herbe à manger et après il ne voulait plus s'éloigner de la barrière. Il a une tête super sympa je trouve et j'aime bien ces animaux !

I would have liked to take his picture in full, but I gave him some grass to eat and afterwards he didn't want to leave the barrier any more. He has a super nice head I think and I like these animals!

During the Greek War of Independence from 1821 to 1822, the island rebelled, but afterwards it fell again under Ottoman rule. This era ended on 12 May 1912, when the Italians occupied the island and the rest of the Dodecanese, during the Italo-Turkish War of 1911–12. On that day, sailors from the Regia Marina battleship Vittorio Emanuele and the destroyer Alpino landed in Karpathos. With the Treaty of Lausanne (1923), Karpathos joined the other islands of the Dodecanese in the Italian possession of the Italian Aegean Islands, and was ceded by Italy to Greece with the Paris Peace Treaties of 1947. The island formally joined the Kingdom of Greece on 7 March 1948, together with the rest of the Dodecanese islands.
In Pigadia, the modern era capital of the island, in a prominent position by the sea, lays the complex of three buildings of the Karpathos District. These are typical of the Italian era, built between 1926-36, and were the Italian local headquarters.
They belong to the category of "International Style" mixed with some elements of oriental eclecticism. It is a complex of three buildings, placed in a Π-shape, thus forming and demarcating Alexandros Papagou Square. The main building is taller (up to 4 floors), dominating the place with its volume and morphology. The other two buildings frame the main one, and all are connected to each other by semi-outdoor spaces and arches, thus forming an ensemble that embraces the square. Observing the complex, we can see the symmetry and the emphasis of the central axis, which is the highest point of the building, with the clock and the flagpole.
The complex was declared a historic site in 1997, as it is a remarkable building of the Italian period in the Dodecanese. The archeological museum of the island is housed in the west wing.

Die Passat ist eine Viermast-Stahlbark, die als einer der legendären Flying P-Liner der Reederei F. Laeisz 1911 bei Blohm & Voss vom Stapel lief und heute im Hafen von Travemünde liegt.
Sie wurde zunächst unter sechs Laeisz-Kapitänen als Frachtsegler zwischen Europa und Südamerika eingesetzt. Im Eigentum von Gustaf Erikson diente sie vor allem für den Weizentransport zwischen Australien und Europa (siehe Weizenregatta). Der damalige Kapitän war Otto Piper. In den 1950er Jahren wurde sie als Frachtsegelschulschiff zwischen Europa und Südamerikas Ostküste eingesetzt. Insgesamt umrundete sie 39-mal das wegen seiner Wetterbedingungen berüchtigte Kap Hoorn (sogenannter Kap Hoornier). Als 1957 das Schwesterschiff Pamir in einem Hurrikan sank und die Passat selbst kurz danach nur knapp dem Untergang in einem Orkan entging, wurde das Schiff vor dem Hintergrund sinkender Rentabilität außer Dienst gestellt.
Heute dient die Passat als Museum, Übernachtungsort und Veranstaltungsort.

The Passat is a four-masted steel barque that was launched by Blohm & Voss in 1911 as one of the legendary Flying P-Liners of the F. Laeisz shipping company and is now moored in the port of Travemünde.
She was initially used under six Laeisz captains as a cargo sailer between Europe and South America. Owned by Gustaf Erikson, it was mainly used to transport wheat between Australia and Europe (see wheat regatta). The captain at the time was Otto Piper. In the 1950s she was used as a cargo sail training ship between Europe and South America's east coast. In total, she circumnavigated Cape Horn (known as Cape Hoornier), which is notorious for its weather conditions, 39 times. When the sister ship Pamir sank in a hurricane in 1957 and the Passat itself just barely escaped sinking in a hurricane shortly afterwards, the ship was decommissioned against the background of declining profitability.
Today, the Passat serves as a museum, overnight accommodation, and event venue.

Plague Soldier Beetle (Chauliognathus lugubris)
This one had been walking along a blade of grass when it got to the end and had to turn around. Shortly afterwards it simply flew off. It has been many years since I have seen any of these and this is the first I have seen in our garden.
Some information about them:
This species earned its common name of the Plague Soldier Beetle not as a result of bringing or spreading any dangerous plagues, but because of its habit of forming huge mating swarms in late summer. They are seen in smaller numbers in the spring and autumn. During their mating periods they can appear in such large numbers that it is not uncommon for them to weigh down the limbs of weaker plants. After the mating swarm the beetles tend to disperse. They visit flowers and are thought to feed on nectar, pollen and soft-bodied invertebrates. Their larvae live in the soil and eat soft-bodied invertebrates. Their bright colour warns off predators as they are capable of releasing distasteful chemicals and would not make a good meal.
When we were up at the observatory ctr, it started snowing a bit, so, the Matterhorn was all covered by the clouds. Only when we descended, this was what was seen from the distance. We were told that it'd take at least 2 hrs. to get a clear view of it afterwards. So this was as good as it got for us. :-(

Links:
This Wagtail is migrant from South East Asia / Northern China, Russia and maybe parts of Alaska. Its a very rare migrant and looks almost similar to the common Western Yellow Wagtail - I personally cannot tell the difference till today.
This was shot an year ago during a casual walk in the dry paddyfields. Merlin /Ebird id'ed this as this rare vagrant, but I thought it's the common Western Yellow species and catalogued it like that in my LR library. Never processed the picture nor published it till date. But in the Ebird checklist of the day, I added this as the very rare Eastern variant and expected to be corrected by the reviewers, but I never received any mail and forgot about this entirely.
An year later i.e. a few days ago, a friend reminded me that I had the only record of this rarity in the neighboring state where I shot it - much to my amazement! There are only a handful records of it in South India I think. Subsequently, it appears that I shot this bird on 1-2 occasions afterwards, but again misidentified it. The joy of seeing such a rarity is different and delightful!

Our flight was uneventful. We are on approach to the planet Indiro. Our mission is to investigate its civilisation. Commander Mont Bomery Flott will beam Dr. Bärbel McRoy and myself to the planet afterwards.
The Doolough Tragedy is an event that took place during the Great Irish Famine close to Doo Lough in southwest County Mayo.
On Friday 30 March 1849, two officials of the Westport Poor Law Union arrived in Louisburgh to inspect those people in receipt of outdoor relief to verify that they should continue to receive it. The inspection, for some reason, did not take place and the two officials went on to Delphi Lodge – a hunting lodge – 19 kilometres (12 miles) south of Louisburgh where they intended to spend the night. Several hundred people who had gathered for the inspection, or later did so, were consequently instructed to appear at Delphi Lodge at 7am the following morning if they wished to continue receiving relief.
For much of the night and day that followed seemingly hundreds of destitute and starving people had to undertake what for them, given their existing state of debilitation, was an extremely fatiguing journey, in very bad weather.
A letter-writer to The Mayo Constitution newspaper reported shortly afterwards that the bodies of seven people, including women and children, were subsequently discovered on the roadside between Delphi and Louisburgh overlooking the shores of Doolough lake and that nine more never reached their homes. While some sources put the total number of deaths at approximately 20 people, local sources suggest that the number who perished was far higher.

The intensive colours were faded just minutes afterwards. The coast is beautiful there. Really enjoyed my evening walks on the beach. Back from holidays now I will miss the vast panorama of sky and clouds over the sea.
Do you know that your thoughts can influence not only other people and yourself, but food too.
If I want to give myself a treat I always have good thoughts towards myself, my body and mind and very importantly; the treat I am going to enjoy.
If you think thoughts like "I shouldn't eat this, its not healthy, I'm going to regret it afterwards", all your energy falls negatively and influence everything, even your food.
Being aware when you eat, not putting your head in your phone, newspaper, book, computer, but actually being there in every bite, does that you taste the flavors in a different way.
And it even is healthy in another way because you become aware of when you are full. And then you ought to stop.
And you will feel content.
Because you listened to yourself, your intuition.
That is why we have one, we should listen to it more.
