Lego has ditched a long-standing partnership with Shell after a Greenpeace video used its toys to illustrate an Arctic oil spill.

THE DREADNOUGHT, V1

Hi everyone, back at posting some encounters! This is a mechanized suit of a character that was planned to be a recurring villain years ago in my D&D campaign: Captain Maxima Dreadnought of A.I.M. (Association of International Mechanists). Plans changed when she was tossed into the astral sea upon defeat! D&D is all about creative solutions to problems, just like Lego is. While she didn't return with a series of progressively larger constructs to terrorize the party, who's to say she won't come back some day in another form?

Nevertheless, I had these built from years ago, and wasn't sure if I'd post them, since I feel like my building skills have definitely gotten better since then. But I figured it's better to put it out there anyway for those who want to appreciate the journey I've been on as a builder these last few years. Enjoy!

The iconic racing car, Jägermeister branded. Pretty straight forward build, playable and sturdy.

I made some changes to the knight I originally designed for a chess collaboration changing the base and updating the armor to use metallic gray to give it a more authentic look.. I then modified the base to give it a bit more height and drama. This is now up for support on LEGO Ideas.

[Sound on] I finished my build for this month’s RLUG (Sacramento Brick Builders) challenge: Create a bouquet or skyscraper. So I made an animation of the Soilent Green flower shop. I hear the flower arrangements are quite edible… just not so many returning customers for some reason…

This was lots of fun to do and animate. I designed everything in Bricklink Studio and textured and animated using Cinema 4D with Octane and Greyscalegorilla Light Kit Pro 3. I finished the video in After Effects with my own vocal sound effects and a song by DapperChapMusic, composed by Michael Collings. All of this was possible because of the awesome computer from Puget Systems.

Hope you like it. “Soilent Green is LEGO minifigures!!!”

Champion of Light

Champion Name: Gale

As a fan of Steven Spielberg's Jaws I took to making a MOC of Quint's boat "The Orca".

I have spent a lot of time on the design, on modifications and creation of the instructions.

This is me 32 years ago. I had two sisters who were merciless they dressed up as a fairy just for giggles. Now I do it on Sundays for the same reason.. ;)

Recent Hong Kong public housing design tends to be modulated and monotonous. Let's recall our memories of childhood fun running around the public estate by bricks! Scenes like Chinese clinic, playground, corridors and metal gates are recreated. Occupation of corridor for decoration, while not allowed in Hong Kong, is somehow very common in Singapore.

Couldn't afford the official one... had to make my own!

Here's my faithful upscaled version of the minifig scale toolbox, but here's the twist! Instead of classic hardware, it contains LEGO themed goodies - resembling real world tools - that I believe would be helpful for any MOC creators.

Work-In-Progress ARF Hellhound. Assault-robotic-frame, fully articulated. My attempt at somethin as awesome as Soren and all those gun-damn mecha builders I admire so. Definitely looking for input. some of the joints are (especially in the lower legs) less weight-bearable than I'd like. Arms are pretty much still sketch, torso I would like to rebuild and make it fig-fit-able.

This is my first attempt at a Micropolis build, to be added to the collaborative at Brickfair Virginia this year. The building itself, despite its small size, is made of around 500 pieces (not including the base). The geometry is interesting, if you look at it all closely. The design was quite challenging. The hole in the base needed to place the building in, for example, is 19.5 plates square. That was more difficult to build than I imagined. There are three steps down from the road level, at a half plate each. Hope you enjoy.

This piece was inspired by a sketch that artist Vincent LeLievre had shared this past summer. I’ve interpreted his sketch in LEGO and have added details that are typical of my building style.

For me, the piece follows the direction of my work "A Vanishing Brooklyn" in that it is based on the mingling of two architectural styles. Here, we have the older, weathered façade and first floor, maintained and sustained, with the addition of more contemporary modules built upward and on to it. Also, included are the green roof elements from Vincent’s original sketch, which I’ve interpreted to also elicit the ‘sustained’ aspect of this piece. I am really happy with the results here. Much like "A Vanishing Brooklyn", this piece was inspired by another artists concept and I knew I wanted to interpret it the moment I saw it. Enjoy!

This is my interpretation of what part of an average AFOL/TFOL's room would look like. This Minifigure is not supposed to represent me or anyone else I know.

Karmanjaka. The land of the tyrant Tengil.

This is my microscale take on Karmanjaka - the land of the tyrant Tengil - from Astrid Lindgren's children's novel Brothers Lionheart published in 1973. A dark story about death and evil, but also a story about love and fighting spirit. Two young brothers die and come to Nangijala, where they travel over Karma Falls to Karmanjaka in their struggle against Tengil and his dragon Katla.

I recently read Brothers Lionheart to my son and decided to build my version of this scene.
