An AMD Ryzen 7 1700, seen just after unboxing. (to go on that Gigabyte motherboard, photo prior in my photostream...) Taken in Albany, CA by a Nikon D610 at ISO 3600 with a Micro-Nikkor 105mm ƒ 2.8 AF-D lens. (NOT the AFS one!) Exposure is 1/125 sec @ ƒ 6.3 Cropped to the square chip, otherwise SOOC.
Above is about 3 times life-size on my 15" laptop screen. (at 1920x1080 resolution) You can imagine how impressive it seems on one of my 27" monitors...
Yes, the top of the chip is out of focus, but the substrate is in focus – this just shows how little Depth of Field you have with a 105mm Macro lens at 1:1.4 on the film plane/image sensor... and how hard it is to tell the difference with Nikon's newer cameras...

Death Valley's Playa Racetrack is a most magical place! Wikipedia reports: "The Racetrack Playa, or The Racetrack, is a scenic dry lake feature with "sailing stones" that inscribe linear "racetrack" imprints. It is located above the northwestern side of Death Valley, in Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, U.S. The Racetrack Playa is 3,714 feet (1,132 m) above sea level, and 2.8 mi (4.5 km) long (north-south) by 1.3 mi (2.1 km) wide (east-west). The playa is exceptionally flat and level with the northern end being only 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) higher than the southern. This occurrence is due to major influx of fine-grained sediment that accumulates at the north end. The highest point surrounding the Racetrack is the 5,678-foot (1,731 m) high Ubehebe Peak, rising 1,964 feet (599 m) above the lakebed 0.85 miles (1.37 km) to the west."

I've only had the adapter for this lens for a couple of days. However, I can already see that it is an excellent lens. This image taken wide-open and just a bit of magenta fringing on the highlights on his cap (near the cobwebs). some slight green fringing on high contrast areas behind the plane of focus. Rendering seems very modern. It might seem boring, though there are situations, such as landscapes where this lens would be the logical choice.
