Laccadives has not really achieved commercial levels in its tourism. One has to be thankful for the policies of the Indian government which prevents consumption of alcohol and presence of too many tourists, lack of fresh water and such. Not necessarily by design but it just happens to work like that.
In the developing world, wherever there are deep waters, obliging children act as divers and showmen to show off their prowess and eagerness and make some money. Laccadives was no different as the kids were having a blast hitting the cool emerald green waters at Agatti from a fishing vessel moored near the jetty.
Unlike other destinations, there was no obligatory solicitation by the participants, just pure fun.

Balancing Act - This backyard Bobcat may not be wearing Air Jordans, but he's certainly got hops like a prime MJ!
Bobcats have longer hind legs than front legs and it's amazing how much jumping power they can generate from a standstill.
Recently, I've enjoyed capturing images of wildlife in urban settings. I think there's great value to showing how wildlife navigates the built environment and showcasing their importance to urban ecosystems.

...this little lady bug is precariously balanced atop a still life of clear marbles and plastic forks...I think she is looking for her reflection on the shiny surface below!

These two gents were riding their bikes through St. Peter’s Square, as lots of people do. I took this picture just to see if I like talking pictures of ‘static bikes’ with their riders doing a superb balancing act; the answer is no I don’t. Personally I like to see a bit of motion blur in my images and maybe a spot of rain included. So this is probably the first and last image of static bikes you will see on my Photstream; thank goodness I hear you all say….LOL

We were at my printer finally getting some prints done and decided to walk around the corner to get something to eat. As we were walking she noticed a building that looked really out of place, sort of like a western town building. We talked about shooting in there and decided it was something we would do. So we went in and I asked the owners if I could shoot, and they were incredibly nice and said of course! So I asked if we could move some things and use some stuff as props, and they said of course! So then I asked if I could make burlap sac dresses out of their materials, and they said yes again! So I went to work crafting these outfits using safety pins and extremely dirty pieces of burlap, yum.
The light is all natural, I was excited to shoot here because I thought it looked like a stage for a play to be set on. I decided to mimic one moment of a play, and this to me is two actors on stage role playing...except the "stage" is really on location, and the "stage lighting" is really the sun.
And of course, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! My mom is my best friend in the world.
Caernarfon Castle (Welsh: Castell Caernarfon), often anglicized as Carnarvon Castle, is a medieval fortress in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, north-west Wales cared for by Cadw, the Welsh Government's historic environment service. There was a motte-and-bailey castle in the town of Caernarfon from the late 11th century until 1283 when King Edward I of England began replacing it with the current stone structure. The Edwardian town and castle acted as the administrative centre of north Wales and as a result the defences were built on a grand scale. There was a deliberate link with Caernarfon's Roman past and the Roman fort of Segontium is nearby.

And the award for the best supporting act goes to........
37716 and 37422 outside York Thrall (Holgate) during the evening on Sat 16th December 2023.
These are 2 out of a total of 5 Class 37’s that were included in the line up, following the end of the locomotives use on the 2023 railhead treatment trains based at York. I feel a bit mean referring to these 2 as a mere supporting act. They were of course much more than that, although it's probably fair to say that the majority of attention went the way of the other 3.
The photo shoot was organised by the well respected Network Rail Director Chris Gee, and involved a huge amount of detailed preparation and organisation amongst both DRS and Network Rail, as well as numerous individuals. It was a great success and all of the proceeds raised (£3,000.00) will be donated to Martin House Hospice.

UP decided to put on a double act by assigning both 1983 and 1943 to the KC - Long Beach intermodal. From what I understand, both units trailed on a manifest into town the day prior. I’m glad they assigned the correct leader.

Day 7 ~

Sunrise in Cades Cove at Sparks Lane on October 16, 2016. Heavy cloud cover to the North South and West erupted in color at sunrise because of clear skies to the east. This is the opening act of color that morning...best sunrise I have seen in a while, without a doubt the best I have seen in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Watching it build was a special treat.
