The Kings Mill Reservoir is located between the towns of Mansfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield, sandwiched between the A38 and A617. The site covers 31.8ha and includes a lake, marshy reed bed, grassland and has the River Maun running through it. Its purpose was to provide sufficient head of water to power a succession of working mills along the river. At the northern end of the reservoir you will discover England's oldest railway viaduct and beyond this you'll find a smaller body of water, the Hermitage nature reserve locally known as 'Dead Man's Valley' and is accessed by crossing the viaduct, the entrance is then on the right.

Sam found himself alone in the laboratory, the dim lights flickering intermittently over the equipment. A bottle of beer was within his reach as he immersed himself in his thoughts. Recently, an unusual event had shaken his scientific world: the disappearance of a body from the incubators. This act not only defied the laws but also raised serious questions about the integrity of the timeline.
As the golden liquid flowed down his throat, Sam pondered the possible devastating consequences that this incident could unleash. What effect would it have on historical evolution? How would it alter temporal continuity? These questions haunted him, filling his mind with unease and concern.
An even more alarming idea seized his thoughts: Who could have orchestrated this act and for what purpose? Time travel technology was heavily regulated, its illegal use a serious offense. Only a few would have access to it, and none of them would have noble motives to carry out such an action.
As Sam delved into his reflections, a determination grew within him: he must uncover the truth behind this enigma. Not only for the sake of the scientific community and temporal stability but also for his insatiable thirst for knowledge. With determination in his gaze, he promised himself that he would not rest until he found answers and ensured that temporal integrity remained intact.

I only came across this site after watching a Youtube episode of Auto Shenanigans, but never got around to visiting the site, this was finally done in July last year.
Markfield Services is situated just off Junction 22 of the M1, this opened up as a Granada service station back in 1989.
Out of the three services that were available here, only the Travelodge operates in the present day, the main service building that held all the food/toilet facilities mysteriously closed without warning back in 2014 The petrol station did continue to keep going for another six years before closing for good in 2020.
Looking at the canopy underside, it is clear that this had been a Mobil filling station when it opened, this would have rebranded to BP once they acquired Mobil's assets in the late 1990's.
The abandoned petrol station is currently surrounded by builders fencing, as is the old services building which is starting to disappear to the the vegetation which is growing all around it.
The former children's play area has also become overgrown with only the top of a slide visible from the access road into the former services.
I did speak to the on site security guard, who at first didn't seem happy with me wandering around, despite fencing preventing me from going anywhere I shouldn't go but he did let me carry on wandering around getting my photos.
