I am not sure how it took so long, but I finally signed up for the All Access Ship Tour on our recent cruise. Wow - this was fantastic! Our tour guide was Nemo (from the Shore Excursions team) - and he did a great job. I took the tour on Thursday February 21st at 9am (our first of two days at sea on our way home). Here is the description from the cruise planner: "Get a behind-the-scenes look at what we do to create your best vacation ever. Join your friendly guide for an exclusive narrated tour onboard your ship. Start off in the dining room, where you’ll find out what our crew does to get ready for every meal, plus try to set up a table yourself. Do you know where to place the water glass or soup spoon? Walk through the main galley to see how our delicious dishes are prepared, plus take a look at the provision area to see all of the ingredients we need to have on hand — it’s a lot! Then step inside the engine control room, where we monitor the systems used throughout the ship. You’ll also visit the ship’s vast laundry facilities. See where anything from napkins, table cloths and sheets to beach towels and the laundry you request gets cleaned and folded. Plus, you’ll have a chance to stroll the “I-95,” the long corridor in the crew’s area, named after the longest highway on the U.S. east coast. Finish with a real treat – a visit to the Bridge for a tour of the ship’s command center." On board the Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas for a 9 Night Southeast Coast & Bahamas Cruise (February 14th through the 23rd, 2019). The itinerary include stops in Charleston (SC), Port Canaveral (FL), Freeport (Grand Bahama Island), Nassau (Bahamas) and Miami (FL) before heading back to Baltimore.

The Langley Aerosol Research Groupe (LARGE) recently traveled to Palmdale, Calif., to conduct the Alternative-Fuel effects on Contrails and Cruise EmiSSions (ACCESS) field mission. They are flying the NASA Langley Falcon aircraft between 100 m and 10 km behind the DFRC DC-8 at altitudes typically flown by commercial aircraft to measure exhaust composition and contrail ice formation and growth as a function of fuel properties and ambient conditions. The Falcon is equipped with about 20 different instruments to provide measurements of important gas, aerosol, cloud particle, atmospheric state, and navigation parameters. The goal of the mission is to study the atmospheric effects of alternative jet fuels produced from renewable resources, in this case, Camelina-oil-based kerosene. Sponsored by the Fundamental Aeronautics Program Fixed-Wing Project, the study is based at the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility and is running between Feb 18 and March 15, 2013.

This is a deep forest with mature but homogeneous trees because it is second growth from about the 1920s so they are all the same age. Also it has not had any significant fire shaping so the forest floor is often thick with litter and dead wood.

In 2015 VAfrica set up an organisation in Malawi Lawilink in an 18-month period Lawilink operated southern region of Malawi through University student volunteers (Blantyre polytechnic) also the community volunteers from Ndirande, Pholombe & the surrounding areas. Creating partnerships between the private sector government and NGOs in the UK, Malawi & Zimbabwe. This project was funded at cost of £105,000.00 with a £30,000.00 return. To facilitate cultural awareness and socio-economic opportunities and platforms for free thinkers and creatives. Africa is the 2nd Largest continent on the planet, with an area: 30.37 million km², 20 percent of the worlds land mass is Africa. A population of 1.216 billion (2016). Yet in March 2013, Africa was identified as the world's poorest inhabited continent: Africa's entire combined GDP is barely a third of the United States' GDP with a GDP of $2.6 trillion (Nominal) in 2019. Ranking Africa 5th in out of 7 continents in GDP. Although Africa supplies its skilled labor and raw materials to fuel the Global economies. Vafrica will address this imbalance to training, support and implementation of sustainable business/organisations.
VAfrica gives opportunities to all, there is a need for the world to be at peace with Africa at its heart. So much of Africa’s history has been pushed to one side and subverted. As we travel and build the VAfrica program's one of the objectives is to record the stories music poems before they are lost, to tell the stories the world is missing.

Stonehenge Access Tours - Go beyond the fences in .....
These are various pictures taken by our expert guides on sunset and sunrise tours throughout 2013.
For those of you who have not visited Stonehenge, we should mention that the complex is roped off. Visitors observe the stones from a distance and are not permitted within the Stone Circle which can be somewhat frustrating. Our special access tours allow you to be amongst the stones and to actually touch them. "A Unique Experience!"
The Regal Cinema in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire was opened in 1937 and as of now, it is one of only a handful, of truly independent cinemas left in the UK.
The Regal is undergoing a restoration project worth in the region of £680,000 and will be closed for approximately 6 months.
Tenbury Wells Council have given me exclusive access to the cinema during the restoration so I am able to provide a photographic document of the work.
The photo above was taken last week, shortly before the work is scheduled to begin.
