Seen during a trike ride in the Kent Valley.

This photo was hand-held and shot while I sat on my recumbent trike.

This was probably done by the salvagers.

September 3, 2010 -The battery was charged, so I rode around using up all that electricity on the scooter e-bike.

This is the access flyover from 22nd Street SkyTrain to the Queensborough Bridge.

I comment about my life and opinions in my eJournal and images every single day. This photo was used there today. It was used there today.

I'll leave this one to you to decide!

The winding steps to the beach.

It was always "suggested" that no one go to the wild side of Hayden Island, the side that lay west of the railroad tracks. Now, it's less a suggestion and more a fact.

I am a huge fan of the All Access Ship Tour and this was the second time I have done this. I will definitely do it again. We had the Tour on February 20th, 2020 and Tyler (a member of the Shore Excursions Team from Canada) was a great guide. We all wore earpieces to hear the speakers at every stop. Here is the description of the tour: "Discover the answers to a question we get asked on every voyage, “How does a ship so big run so smoothly?” Find out on a behind-the-scenes tour that reveals the technology, teamwork, and tons of supplies that go into creating your Celebrity Cruise. Start in the Main Dining Room with a little hands-on lesson from the staff, and then, visit the Main Galley to see how our culinary team artfully prepares about 25,000 meals for our guests and crew each and every day. It’s an impressive achievement, especially when you think about all the exotic flavors you get to enjoy in Modern Luxury style aboard your Celebrity Cruise ship. Next up, pop into provisioning for a jaw-dropping look at the sheer volume of ingredients it takes to make it all happen. Here’s a little preview. We go through roughly 8,500 lbs of watermelon on every cruise. Not to mention, 10,000 bananas and 32,000 potatoes (give or take a few). Continue to the Engine Control Room, where expert engineers monitor the ship’s engines and onboard machinery - 24/7. You’ll learn how the engines do more than turn the giant props. They power all our onboard systems, including air-conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing and many others. This is the heart and soul of the cruise ship and you’ll enjoy a rare up-close look at how it operates. Afterwards, go for stroll down I-95, the “main highway” for the crew. It runs down the center of the ship and is named after the longest highway on the U.S. East Coast. Your next stop is Laundry, where thousands of items are cleaned and crisply folded every day– napkins to linens to beach towels. Marvel at massive machines that can hold 264 lbs. of laundry in every load. To put that in perspective, it’s like doing 14 loads of laundry in your machine at home all at once. The tour concludes with a real treat – a visit to the Bridge, where all the ship’s onboard systems are controlled. Step up and witness advanced navigation and communications equipment in action, and scan the sea from the same vantage point your Captain uses to chart the way. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to run a cruise ship, this inside access tour provides plenty of answers, great insight, and a whole lot of excitement." On board the Celebrity Equinox for Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise from February 15th to the 22nd, 2020. The itinerary includes stops in San Juan (Puerto Rico), Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands), Tortola (British Virgin Islands), Nassau (Bahamas) before returning to Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida). The best part is that we are on Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise again!

Rig Mat System's access mats are made from CLT, and are lighter, stronger, and more durable than their counter parts.

The Langley Aerosol Research Groupe (LARGE) recently traveled to Palmdale, Calif., to conduct the Alternative-Fuel effects on Contrails and Cruise EmiSSions (ACCESS) field mission. They are flying the NASA Langley Falcon aircraft between 100 m and 10 km behind the DFRC DC-8 at altitudes typically flown by commercial aircraft to measure exhaust composition and contrail ice formation and growth as a function of fuel properties and ambient conditions. The Falcon is equipped with about 20 different instruments to provide measurements of important gas, aerosol, cloud particle, atmospheric state, and navigation parameters. The goal of the mission is to study the atmospheric effects of alternative jet fuels produced from renewable resources, in this case, Camelina-oil-based kerosene. Sponsored by the Fundamental Aeronautics Program Fixed-Wing Project, the study is based at the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility and is running between Feb 18 and March 15, 2013.

The farmer that owns this field not only has his own chained and padlocked metal gate blocking access to his field, he has his own private oiled plank bridge, obviously constructed by the railroad, over a small but steep-banked stream leading to this gate. He not only has his own private oiled plank bridge leading to his own private chained and padlocked gate leading to his field, he has his own private railroad crossing, complete with functioning crossing lights and crossing arm, leading to this private plank bridge leading to his chained and padlocked metal gate leading to his field. This private crossing over the railroad tracks is at the top of a small ridge with a narrow white gravel lane coming off at a slant from old Route 66, up to the crossing and back down on a slant to old Route 66 again. There has to be a story here.

I remember this spot well because, way back in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, before Route 66 was replaced by Interstate 55, this white gravel lane was a favorite place for sheriff officers to wait for speeders along Route 66. I would seldom pass this point without seeing a sheriff's car pointing to the North in the direction of Shirley and Bloomington, Illinois waiting to give chase. I wonder how many other still people pass this spot and recall the constant presence of these sheriff's cars.
