Back on home territory during Saturday's 280 Farewell Running Day is former ABC DAF SB200 / Northern Counties N600 ABC. New in 1996, this was branded for the route which then originated in Southport as a variation of the original Ribble X27 that had started back even further south in Liverpool.

Through a series of takeovers the DAF found itself in unwanted Stagecoach ownership who quickly sold it on to Isle Coaches where is spent ten years, its longest under one roof, until moving into preservation in 2016.

The new Regal ABC cinema model is based upon the one that stood in Sidcup. The model is seen here standing between the HRS High Road shops and the SSM Sixties Supermarket kits.

Machapuchare, Machhapuchchhre or Machhapuchhre (from Nepali माछापुच्छ्रे, meaning "fishtail"), is a mountain in the Annapurna Himalayas of north central Nepal. It is revered by the local population as particularly sacred to the god Shiva, and hence is off limits to climbing.

Machapuchare is at the end of a long spur ridge, coming south out of the main backbone of the Annapurna Himalayas, which forms the eastern boundary of the Annapurna Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a favorite trekking destination, and the site of the base camps for the South Face of Annapurna and for numerous smaller objectives. The peak is about 25 km (16 mi) north of Pokhara, the main town of the region.

Machapuchare has never been climbed to its summit. The only attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Lieutenant Colonel Jimmy Roberts. Climbers Wilfrid Noyce and A. D. M. Cox climbed to within 150 m (492 ft) of the summit via the north ridge, to an approximate altitude of 22,793 ft (6,947 m). They did not complete the ascent, as they had promised not to set foot on the actual summit.[1] Since then, the mountain has been declared sacred, and is now closed to climbers.

From 1970: "Let's Get Together on ABC."

This is actually an image composite of a screen capture from an old promo and a headline from an ad in a Minneapolis newspaper, with some color enhancement, but I think it looks pretty cool, and is historically accurate.

In those days, on weeknights, KMSP Channel 9 in Minneapolis-St. Paul lead into ABC prime time with the syndicated "To Tell the Truth" (with with Gary Moore, Kitty Carlisle, Peggy Cass and Bill Cullen on the psychedelic dungeon set) and "Truth or Consequences" (with Bob Barker), which my family usually had on.

KMSP is now a Fox-owned station.
