Von Juni bis August 2012 haben die BesucherInnen des Ars Electronica Center die Möglichkeit, ihren persönlichen Leuchtbuchstaben in der ABC-Werkstatt zu bauen, um damit am 1. September 2012 selbst Teil der voestalpine Klangwolke in Linz zu werden.

La serie ABC esprime in sintesi la filosofia creativa e la ricerca che da oltre vent’anni il marchio Prandina conduce sulle potenzialità espressive del vetro soffiato.
L’impostazione della serie ABC è orientata alla massima semplicità e rigore formale, tuttavia grazie alla messa a punto di una esclusiva tecnica di trattamento dei diffusori, sui quali viene trasferita una minuziosa texture alfabetica a rilievo, è stato possibile aggiungere a queste qualità estetiche una leggerezza e una preziosità del vetro inedite.
La serie ABC, con diffusori in vetro soffiato opalino satinato bianco, cristallo nero o trasparente, è disponibile in tre misure con varianti che coprono le tipologie da terra, tavolo e a sospensione. La struttura è in metallo cromato lucido o verniciato bianco opaco.
The Abc range shows the creative philosophy and research that Prandina carries out from the 80's on the blown glass potentialities. ABC reveals a very simple and clear design but thanks to an exclusive technique, it has been possible to transfer a very detailed alphabetical texture on the glass, giving it an unusual lightness and preciousness. ABC, with its clear crystal, black crystal or opal white blown glass diffuser, comes in three different sizes with floor, table and suspension versions. The structure is in chrome or matt white painted metal.

Over the coming months, thousands of gleaming letters of the alphabet will be constructed, imaginatively designed and equipped with LEDs and receivers. And all these constructors are invited to bring their letters to Linz’s riverside Donaupark on the evening of September 1, when these works of art will get connected up to the voestalpine Klangwolke and become part of a gigantic spectacle. After all: it’s the interplay with thousands of other letters that enables each individual character to unfold its full potential—to become components of words, and, in turn, sentences in which information morphs into communication.
