Unedited shot of a visitor in the 'ABC Treehouse' in Amsterdam yesterday. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

Yesterday I was the Artist in Residency at the 'ABC Treehouse' in the Voetboogstraat 11 for the 'MultiCulti' exhibition again, and even though it was raining most of the time, lots of nice people came by to visit me and the lovely Miss Monyart there again and the cool Miss Marjon a.k.a. 'I amsterdam' took this really cool picture of us, thanks a lot guys&girls, it was fun again :))

Because my brain is the size of a peanut and I haven't slept very much lately, I've been telling everybody that yesterday was the last day of the exhibition but of course that's not true, it's going on until the end of the month, October 30 will be the final day, hahaha! We were going to have an open discussion forum about the influence of foreigners living in the best country in the world on the 30st, but because the crazy Skinheads of the English Defence League have announced that they're coming to Amsterdam that day, to show their support for Geert Wilders (who doesn't want them to come), and everybody who disagrees with that has said they'll come as well, to beat some sense into their shaved heads, we're expecting a wicked Saturday with (hopefully not!) violence, street fighting and other unwanted and unnecessary things, the discussion will take place a week later and it's an by Invitation only kinda thing...that's sad and sucks, but what can you do against the stupidity of humans, sigh...

I thought this was clever - the XYZ store moved in next door to the ABC store. Not bad for handheld in verrrrry low light.

The ABC Showcase is an exhibition space, a setting for experimentation and a source of inspiration all in one. Does this sound familiar: you’d like to construct a flashy letter for the voestalpine Klangwolke but you’re fresh out of bright ideas?

Then take a look around the ABC Showcase at how visitors have construct their own illuminated letters – and how letters have been embellished by hand for centuries, and at all the multicolored motifs people in different cultures have been creating out of alphabetic characters. Put your reading glasses aside, forget (for a little while) the direction they taught you to read in at school, give your vocabulary a much-deserved rest, and proceed to our interactive installations for some hands-on fun drawing sensational images—with letters.

Alphabet capital letters from antique children's book, Our Brownies. I digitally cleaned it up. It had stains on it.

The ABC is in George Street, Luton. Opened in 1938, it became a 3-screen in 1971 and closed in 2000, a victim of the nearby Galaxy multiplex. It's future is uncertain. Seen in April 2008.
