This Fry's is unique in that it is one of two on the same street corner.
I was talking with someone who said they are pondering shuttering that store and consolidating into this one.
The reason that two Fry's stores wound up on the same street corner is because this particular unit started as a Smitty's Marketplace and was later rebranded to Fred Meyer. When Kroger merged with Fred Meyer (an acquisition completed in 1999), it shrunk the footprint of the FM banner out of Arizona and rebranded almost all the Arizona Fred Meyer stores as Fry's, which it had owned since its 1983 buyout of Dillon's (the exceptions were in Mohave County, which is closer physically and economically to Las Vegas). The AZ Fred Meyers were all former Smiths and Smitty's units. The other Fry's, which is a smaller store, has been operated as a Fry's store since it opened in the mid-1990s.
The Marketplace format originated with Smitty's and has since propagated throughout Kroger, appearing under several different banners including Kroger itself. This store even had an outdoor garden center; this fell into disuse and was later enclosed as a stockroom in the 2005 remodel.

Marketplace in Knaresborough is the town square and is on the same level as the Castle which is only a few minutes walk away.
As Karli has mentioned, this past weekend was Seminar Weekend. It was also the second weekend of the Glimmerglass Marketplace, where local artisans sold their hand-made creations and donated 30 percent of proceeds to Glimmerglass Opera. Again, the fundraiser was held in the
Thaw Pavilion, but this weekend we had some new vendors on site! The Thaw Pavilion is such a versatile space, so I wanted to capture a photo of the entire half of the building that was occupied by marketplace so that the image would include the banners hanging from the ceilings. We are very grateful for the generosity of all these local artisans!

On Thursday, September 18, 2014, Food in the Garden focused on the foodways and waterways of the Great Lakes region.
The Great Lakes region was integral to the War of 1812, a front for several naval and land conflicts such as the assaults on Ft. Meigs and the Battle of Put-in-Bay. Once referred to as the Eden of the West, the Great Lakes region included hundreds of miles of untamed wilderness, rolling rivers, and dense forest encompassing modern day New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. The region was home to the Chippewa, Ottawa, and Iroquois tribes, who valued the waterways as a means of life. With the increasing demand for elbow room, European-Americans began to extend their reach westward into relatively unfamiliar territory with the hope of thriving off of abundant, fertile land. With them came exotic and—in some cases—invasive species never before seen in the region such as apples, peaches, swine, and other fare that would come to define the region. How did the introductions of new plant and animal species affect the cultural foodways of the people who lived there and continue to live in the region today?
200 years later, this region is the cultural center of the Midwest with over 32 million people living along the lakes. Although early settlements have come and gone, many heirloom seeds native to this region have stood the test of time and there is an ever-present effort to preserve them, not only for consumption but for their cultural significant as well.
Panelists: Jodi Branton, National Museum of American Indian; Rick Finch, interim director of the Glenn Miller Birth Place Museum and former site manager of Fort Meigs: Ohio’s War of 1812 Battleground ; and Tim Rose, geologist at the National Museum of Natural History and cider maker with Distillery Lane.
In the Marketplace: Whisked! Bakery’s Jenna Huntsberger showcases rhubarb and apple pies, Distillery Lane Ciderworks presents cider making demonstrations, Meatcrafters charcuterie discusses artisanal meat, and learn about what's blooming in the Garden from Smithsonian Gardens.

Marketplace Schwandorf
Ensemble marketplace. The ensemble includes the elongated triangular marketplace, the urban center of Schwandorf.
The settlement, emerged southeast above a ford of the Naab River and 1006 for the first time mentioned as a villa, received in 1299 by the Bavarian Duke a municipal constitution, but gained full city rights not before 1466. The marketplace expands transversely towards the direction of the old thoroughfare Regensburg-Amberg, flowing in the southern corner and re-emerging in the middle of the northwestern flank. In this area of the square, which has the greatest width, rose detached until 1803 the old town hall.
Opposite, to the northeast, the square room narrows like a funnel toward the late Gothic tower at the south side of the parish church, which stood free until 1868 and dominates the entire square image. The development partly still stems from the late Middle Ages, though the former private residences are strongly renewed. Dominating is the house type of gabled houses whose plaster facades were often crowned by stepped gables.

Marktplatz Schwandorf
Ensemble Marktplatz.
