This is, where it all started. The St. Nicholas Church (Nikolaikirche) in Leipzig. This is the place where thousands of people met every Monday for months on until at the evening of the 9th Novemer 1989 one of this meetings resulted in open borders between the than two parts of Germany. (Well this is a very shortened version of the events. To get a better idea please look at their homepage www.nikolai-kirche.de They also offer an English translation.)
I took more pictures but as I'm not on my computer at the moment I will show them later, so please take this as a first idea ;o)
Smitty. I found Smitty on petfinder.com. In his photo he looked so
scared...like he just needed to be loved. He was born to a feral
mother and rescued as a kitten. Some of the kittens in the litter had
conjunctivitus but were found too late to treat it at the onset
resulting in vision problems. Smitty has cloudy eyes and we aren't
sure just how much he can see. After seeing his description (and the
fact that my husband was working on a story with a cat in it named
Smitty), we had to adopt him. He has been with us about 3 years now.
He can be skittish at times but he is such a lover and really has a
loud motor when he purrs. We can't imagine not having him around. We
also have his actual brother from the same litter that we adopted a
year after Smitty but that story is for another day....
