San Cristobal, Chiapas contrasts with Oaxaca in some interesting ways. It is the tourist destination and adopted city of many Europeans and few Americans, which gives it a harder, more sophisticated, less friendly, and more elegant edge than Oaxaca, which is visited by more folks from the USA. We tend to scare more easily than the Europeans at signs of rebellion and the sight of armed men in the street, which is common in Chiapas, and more and more common in Oaxaca. Europeans are also more knowledgeable and committed to monitoring the human rights situation in Chiapas than the Americans are in showing concern with the deteriorating situation in Oaxaca.

This is really a very nice article! It is very detailed but lacks a bit in it's references to ACSC. It is detailed for its back and forth government responses, but fails to discuss such items as ACSC or CAMEO( California Metal Enameling Company) herculean efforts at signing and resigning this route. ACSC Touring Topics of 7/1914 definitive terminus of NOTR as 7th and Broadway. In fact it was marked by four bronze (framed) ACSC directional signs( porcelain) placed on the four corners. Also recently one of these handsome signs was re-discovered in Kansas..photo attached.
