The Spreewald (German for "Spree Woods" is a picturesque section of the German state of Brandenburg located about 100 km south-east of Berlin. Spreewald was designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1991. It is known for its traditional irrigation system, consisting of more than 200 small canals (called "Fließe"; total length: 1,300 km ) within the 484-square-kilometre (187 sq mi) area. The landscape was shaped during the ice-age. Alder forests on wetlands and pine forests on sandy dry areas are characteristic for the region. Grasslands and fields can be found as well.

another classic of the Southwest, Turret Arch seen through the North Window at sunrise (September 27, 2008, 7:39 am).
I was there several times in different years, but only had this once beautiful clouds. Only the very early sun makes the rocks for a few minutes to glow.
ein weiterer Klassiker des Südwestens, Turret Arch durch das North Window bei Sonnenaufgang, 27.09.08, 7:39 Uhr.
Ich war dort mehrmals in verschiedenen Jahren, hatte aber nur dieses eine Mal die schöne Bewölkung. Nur die ganz frühe Sonne bringt die Felsen für einige Minuten zum glühen.
