FID Rex just got home. I don't think he's ever sharing this outfit.

As we were staying on our little boat, most of the stuff I usually use for photography was at home. But today I tried out a brand new technique - Kite Photography! In these days of Google Earth and drones, the aerial view has become rather commonplace. Nevertheless, I've always wanted to give it a go, so I made a Flowform parafoil kite using a pattern I found in a book and today for the first time, heart in mouth, hoisted my Gopro up on Conwy Mountain. It was fun! And even better, my camera is still intact!

We're Here: What's Your Technique?

A panoramic fun slide for Sliders Sunday. Three boats? One boat. When I shot this sequence I did not even think about doing a panorama, but when I viewed the images at home I thought I'd give it a try, and PS's Photomerge did a good job for boat "one" (right) and "three" (left). I added the center shot manually, masking out everything but the boat. I then edited the capture in Analog Efex (classical camera, preset 5, type of film: warm, no dirt & scratches, just a little vignetting) to give it an old postcard look, and added the image border in ON1 Photo (type: simple, white square keyline). And I guess I added an HDR filter in ON1, too ;-).

Location: Jagdschloss Glienicke, a hunting lodge in the Berlin borough of Wannsee, as seen from the Park Babelsberg (Potsdam / Brandenburg). The lake you see is the Glienicker Lake, the border between the federal city state of Berlin, and the federal state of Brandenburg runs right through the lake.

HSS everyone ;-), and have a nice Sunday, dear Flickr friends!

Thank you very much for your comments and faves! Lieben Dank für Eure Kommentare und Favs ;-)

Spirit of the north...

It was 2 days trip, last weekend. This is the very beautiful island famous as the site of the Konevsky Monastery. It is located off the southwestern shore of Lake Ladoga.

In the Middle Ages, the island was considered holy by the Finnish tribes who particularly revered a huge boulder in the shape of a horse's skull, weighing more than 750 tons.

This boulder is known as "Steed-Stone" and gives its name to the island.

Absolutely wonderful place with fantastic atmosphere. I fell in love with this place 😍 Also the weather was so warm +28C and it was awesome.

Notice: Ladoga is the largest lake entirely in Europe and the 14th largest freshwater lake by area in the world. There are around 660 islands with a total area of about 435 km2.

Konevitsa on ortodoksisesta Konevitsan luostarista kuulu saari Laatokan länsirannan tuntumassa Sortanlahden edustalla.

Saarelle pääsee uudella katamaraanilla Sortanlahdesta (n. 15 minuutin matka).

A place I love:

In the hill country in front of the Black Forest and surrounded by vineyards is the perennial nursery Countess of Zeppelin situated. It is actually one of the greatest nursery of iris in Europe.

There also a huge assortment of peonies, poppies, day lilies and other perennials. A feast for the eyes!

"The Greek goddess Iris walked a rainbow pathway through the sky and the flower named for her has a rainbow of flower colors. Iris is one of the oldest garden flowers. Iris is often seen as the only remnant of a long since abandoned home."

Staudengärtnerei Gräfin v. Zeppelin

It was packed at Mt Coot-tha Lookout this morning with only one good spot left for my tripod! It was worth getting up early for.
