Esta tierra está llena de pintamónos y monosabios. Usted, allá en el Cusco, va a encontrar maravilla y media, y se fue a vivir al Cusco, la mañana del 14 de julio de 1966, que no solamente era fría por el invierno de Arequipa sino también por los baldazos de agua con que los vecinos lavaban sus veredas de piedra. Lleve usted este tubo de carmín que es el padre de todos los grises y para los puntos mágicos este gran amarillo de goma guta. Pínteme usted esas rejitas que ya están por caerse, los balcones de la calle sucia, que cuando yo fui a pintarlos ya estaban en el aire. Écheles azulacho, a lo macho nomás… El día que usted regrese le tomaré examen creo que con mi paleta y en uno de mis papeles finos que guardo especialmente.
