Metra 97 leads MD-N train #2111 at Northbrook, IL.

Baltimore & Annapolis Railroad #97 and two additional cars make up a three car train at Bladen Street Station next to the B&A's freight house in September 1949. Note the B&A buses on the right in the background and the Wiley's jeep being loaded with parcels by the young gentleman on the left. One would assume they were Naval Academy folks making a pick up at the freight station. In four months time the buses will supplant the Interurban cars which would later be scrapped, and all freight service would be handled by one diesel electric switcher from GE. Carload freight to Annapolis ended in 1968 due to the severe deterioration of the Severn River trestle and the B&A's unwillingness and most likely, lack of money to repair the bridge.
