Throw Back Thursday......
Coolpix 950 image. Campaign Code name "Stunning Lust". Lit with a Westcott sunlight reflector through the window of an antique store called the "Rosetta Stone Gallery" it took the camera 3 seconds from hitting the shutter at full resolution 1.92MP TIF to fire and a minute 47 seconds to write to the card in 1999. Ahhhh... the salad days of digital. Oh yeah I had to walk up hill in the snow in both directions to go to my studio which was just a wet paper bag open at both ends AND I was grateful....

PIAZZA DEL POPOLO è il cuore pulsante della città di Ravenna. Da più di sette secoli è sede dei principali palazzi del potere (quello del Comune e quello della Prefettura, un tempo della Legazione Pontificia), insostituibile luogo di appuntamento e di ritrovo per tutti i cittadini.
Nonostante il trascorrere del tempo, l’aspetto della piazza mantiene una sua vivacità a tutte le ore del giorno grazie ai suoi bar e caffè all’aperto: punto di convergenza di molte vie centrali e dunque luogo di intenso passaggio.

THE CLOCK TOWER
PIAZZA DEL POPOLO is the beating heart of the city of Ravenna. For over seven centuries, it has been home to the main buildings of power (the City Hall and the Prefecture, formerly the Papal Legation), an indispensable meeting place for all citizens.
Despite the passage of time, the square maintains its lively appearance at all hours of the day thanks to its outdoor bars and cafes: a point of convergence of many central streets and therefore a place of intense traffic.

Digital has come a long way. This camera has been in storage for more than two decades and it did shine for a long time and even eclipsing newer and higher resolution models by a few years in the early days of consumer digital cameras. The Nikon 950 was optically well designed and is still usable today. Most other contemporary digicams couldn't shoot grass and stones without the viewer having to guess.
