Everyone suggests using one of these. Since I’m posting this late, we didn’t end up catching the mouse with it. We caught it ourselves. But hopefully this expensive things works later down the line.
Gouffre de Padirac is one of Europe’s most celebrated natural wonders—a vast cave system nestled in the Lot department of the Occitanie region in France. Its name, with "gouffre" meaning "chasm," hints at the dramatic entrance: visitors begin their adventure by descending a vertiginous 103‑meter drop, either by a lift or a set of stairs, which ushers them from the daylight world into a mystical underground realm .
Once below, the experience unfolds as a guided boat trip along an underground river that winds its way through spectacular galleries and cavernous chambers. One of the cave’s most striking features is the "Grande Pendeloque," a monumental stalactite soaring 60 meters high and seemingly suspended in a dance with its reflection in the "Lac de la Pluie" (Lake of Rain). The journey continues past other dramatic sights such as the "Lac des Gours" and the vast "Salle du Grand Dôme," whose vaulted ceiling rises an astonishing 94 meters—creating a natural cathedral deep beneath the earth .
Discovered in the late 19th century by the pioneering speleologist Édouard-Alfred Martel, Gouffre de Padirac quickly captured imaginations around the world. Over time, the cave’s labyrinth of limestone passages took shape as water erosion sculpted its otherworldly scenery over hundreds of thousands of years. Today, the cave maintains a constant internal temperature of about 13°C year-round, ensuring that every visit offers a consistently remarkable and comfortable exploration of nature’s subterranean artistry .
