Cilene Perereia, 53, is an indigenous Ticuna woman who migrated to Manaus from a rural village with her husband Bernadino 30 years ago. The Ticuna are the most numerous ethnic group in the Brazilian Amazon. Cilene works with her husband making handicrafts. The Ticuna have a very varied and rich creative tradition, especially in basket work, ritual masks, necklaces, bark painting and pottery.
