Starting in MY 1978, the new 3.0 L 911 SC (2,994 cc) was now the second generation basic 911 model. It was in effect a Carrera 3, detuned to provide 180 PS (130 kW; 180 hp). The SC designation was reintroduced by Porsche. No Carrera versions were produced and the 930 Turbo remaining at the top of the range. Porsche's engineers felt that the weight of the extra luxury, safety and emissions equipment on these cars was blunting performance compared to the earlier, lighter cars with the same power output so power was boosted to 185hp for 1980 and then to 201hp SCs sold in the UK could be specified with the Sport Group Package (UK) which added stiffer suspension, the rear spoiler, front rubber lip and black Fuchs wheels

Months after a fire at a specialty auto shop, the charred remains of a dozen Porsches remain.

I've wanted to do this for a while now and thanks to BoB for lending me his softbox and Tony bringing his Porsche, I can now say that I've done it. I am so pleased with the results! almost professional! Okay so I had to clone out some of the floor as it was peeling paint, but short of buying a lot of gear they came out really well.

More to follow :)

The 911SC Cabriolet was unveiled at the March 1982 Geneva auto show as Porsche's first factory-built convertible since the last open 356Cs of a decade before. Of course, it was also the first true Porsche 911 convertible.

The Porsche 911SC Cabrio got a warm U.S. reception on its 1983-model debut despite a chilling $34,450 sticker.

The Cabrio could be driven with the top down and windows up without the nasty wind buffeting that plagued so many convertibles. Consumer Guide found this true even at modestly illegal speeds.

Gärdesloppet, or Prins Bertil Memorial:

Prince Bertil Memorial takes place each year in Stockholm, Sweden, in honour of Prince Bertil, uncle to Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf. The Prince was a race-car driver in the 1930s, using the pseudonym "Monsieur Adrian" to placate his disapproving father, later King Gustaf VI Adolf. Prince Bertil continued to act in the monarchy's best interests by forgoing marriage to his British girlfriend, Lilian Craig. Under Swedish law, which has since been changed, such a union with a commoner would have rendered him ineligible to serve as regent, should the need have arisen, to Carl Gustaf, son of Prince Bertil's deceased older brother. The Prince finally married the patient Lilian in 1976, three years after nephew Carl Gustaf was safely on the throne.

The E24 6 series began production in 1976 with the 630CS and the 633 CSi, originally bodies were made by Karmann but were later built in house. The 633CSi was powered by a 3210cc straight six engine of 194bhp and used a Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system. Transmission was initially a four speed Manual or three speed Automatic box. In 1979 the Manual version was upped to a five speed with a choice of wide or close ratio and from 1983 the Automatic received a four speed transmission

By 1978 the newly introduced BMW 635 CSi was depleting sales of the 633CSi in the UK. BMW took the decision to upgrade the remaining cars in stock, 29 cars were sent to TWR in Kiddlington were the work was carried out, resulted in the Hallmark edition, which featured Alpina alloy wheels, full red leather interior and automatic transmission, other features included power steering, air conditioning, electric sunroof, electric windows, solid silver ashtrays, solid silver headrest motifs, sports steering wheel with padded centre section.

1983 saw the launch of the SC Series of the 911 Classic, for the 1984 model year. The 3.2 litre Carrera saw the revival of the Carrera name previously used in 1977 The 911 3.2 Carrera was the second iteration of the 911 series, with all subsequent models featuring new body styling with new brake, electronic and suspension technologies, which at the time Porsche claimed was 80 per cent new. The new swept volume of 3,164 cc horizontally opposed flat six engine featured higher domed pistons, increasing the compression ratio, breathing through a new manifold and exhaust system and an increase in output to 228bhp (207bhp for America). In 1984, Porsche also introduced the M491 option. Officially called the Supersport, it was commonly known as the "Turbo-look". It was a style that resembled the Porsche 930 Turbo with wide wheel arches and the distinctive "tea tray” tail. It featured the stiffer turbo suspension and the superior turbo braking system as well as the wider turbo wheels.

The 911 Carrera came as a 2 seater Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet
