Last weekend I went to the Historic Grand Prix in Zandvoort, and I saw many beautiful classic and newer cars.

This Porsche I saw there is probably not a real Carrera RS 2.7, but wow this thing looks good!

The 1977 Porsche 911 Series consisted of the one series, the 911S, offered as a coupe or a targa. The Turbocharged Carrera was available only as a coupe. Pricing for the 911S Coupe began at $15,000 while the turbocharged version had a $28,000 base price.

Powering the 911S was an overhead-cam six-cylinder engine with a 163.9 cubic-inch displacement and had 157 (SAE net) horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission was standard with a Sportomatic offered as optional equipment. The rear-engine, rear-drive vehicle had disc brakes in both the front and the back.

Flush door locks were the only visible change for the 1977 model year. This would be the final year for the 911 in the guise, before it was replaced by the 911SC which had a larger 3.0-liter engine.

During 1977 a total of 4,173 examples of the Type 911 were produced.

Starting in May 1978, the new 3.0 L 911 SC (2994 cc) was now the basic 911 mode. The SC designation was reintroduced by Porsche for the first time since the 356 SC (as distinguished from the race-engined 356 Carrera). No Carrera versions were produced and the 930 Turbo remaining at the top of the range. Porsche felt that the extra weight of the the luxury and safety equipment, together with new emission requirements were blunting performance, so in non US spec cars power was boosted to 188PS for 1980 and again to 204PS, but US spec cars retained their original 180PS output, enabling them to run on reduced octane fuel.

SCs sold in the UK could be specified with the Sport Group Package (UK) which added stiffer suspension, the rear spoiler, front rubber lip and black Fuchs wheels

In model year 1980, Porsche offered a Weissach special edition version of the 911 SC, named after the town in Germany where Porsche has their research centre. Designated M439, it was offered in two colours with the turbo whale tail front chin spoiler, body colour-matched Fuchs alloy wheels

Starting in MY 1978, the new 3.0 L 911 SC (2,994 cc) was now the second generation basic 911 model. It was in effect a Carrera 3, detuned to provide 180 PS (130 kW; 180 hp). The SC designation was reintroduced by Porsche. No Carrera versions were produced and the 930 Turbo remaining at the top of the range. Porsche's engineers felt that the weight of the extra luxury, safety and emissions equipment on these cars was blunting performance compared to the earlier, lighter cars with the same power output so power was boosted to 185hp for 1980 and then to 201hp SCs sold in the UK could be specified with the Sport Group Package (UK) which added stiffer suspension, the rear spoiler, front rubber lip and black Fuchs wheels
