Built in 1880 by the German firm of Borsig in Berlin, 2-4-0 No 89 'De Nestor' is unusual in that its cab is made of wood.
As a result of this the footplate crews were nicknamed 'Caravanners'.
This loco was operated by the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij (HSM) who were the only Dutch railway company in the early days to name and number their locomotives.
Rest in peace, Patrick Swayze. He was an amazing person, an amazing actor, an amazing talent. He was diagnosed with a horrible disease, and my heart aches for his loss.
Patrick's family live in the town I do. His nephew and I have gone to school together since grade school. I give all my hopes in that their family will be all right.
