Less than a month ago I was lucky enough to catch the 867 heading north on empty hops, little did I know it would probably be the last time shooting 867 on home rails. As of tonight the 867 is trailing on a B&P train heading for the CN interchange in Buffalo, NY and then probably to work in transfer service in the Chicago area. If this old warrior ever makes it back to home rails it probably won't look this nice after being beat to death in Chicago just like (866)
A longtime resident of the Bessemer, SD38 #867 is heading west to join other SD38s on the CN system in the Chicago area.

It is nothing short of a miracle that the time capsule of a railroad that is the Bessemer and Lake Erie still exists in its current form. After five years of deprivation, a trio of Bessemer orange EMD's is once again gracing the rails of the mainline of western Pennsylvania. After the much anticipated return of SD38-2 No. 878, it was only a short time before these three engines ended up together on the road.
Yesterday was the trio's first southbound run with cars and they are seen here throttling up at Keisters (south of Branchton, PA) after a brief stop north of the signals. Perfect temps, cloudless skies, and good friends made this day one to remember, especially for the few of us who never had the opportunity to photograph consists like this when they ran on the daily. Here's to hoping sights like this become common once again.

Having a little fun with picking up just the highlights on this old rotary dial phone.
Wikipedia states that the standard model 500 rotary dial phone was produced from 1950 to 1984.
Extra points to those who picked up on the title before reading it here. 8675309 was the number from Tommy Tutone's song "Jenny" that aired in 1982.

A Sunday afternoon at Rochester and Southern's Brooks Avenue Yard finds BLE #867 idling along with a pair of BNSF GEVOs on what will most likely be tonight's transfer to Goodman Street, one of the first sightings of the engine since its passage to AMP in Dansville for overhaul.
