Another from the Didcot steam evening, must admit I found the shots in the shed quite hard to get, just not used to having so many other photographers around me. I took myself off to a quieter area outside where I was much more in my comfort zone

Jak zawsze muszę przytoczyć Wam trochę historii. Nie wolno o niej zapominać.
Linia 277 powstała w 1909 roku jako odciążenie dla przeciążonej linii pomiędzy Opolem a Wrocławiem przez Brzeg. Łagodny profil, przebieg przez słabo zurbanizowane tereny był dobrą opcją dla ciągle rosnących przewozów. Przez pierwsze 2 lata prowadzono po niej jedynie ruch towarowy. Po 1911 roku sukcesywnie uruchamiano coraz więcej pociągów pasażerskich. Przez następne dekady linia żyła własnym życiem, czas zatrzymał się na niej. Po upadku PRL linia zaczęła popadać w coraz większą agonię. Prędkości po latach zaczęły spadać. Zawieszono większość połączeń pasażerskich. Aktualnie jadą tędy 2 pary objazdowych pociągów PKP Intercity (Karkonosze oraz Przemyślanin) oraz ledwie 2 pary pociągów osobowych. Pierwsza para wyjeżdża po 4 rano z Opola i Wrocławia a druga po 15. Dla kogo te połączenia? Chyba jedynie dla otrzymywania dotacji dla Polregio i zadowolenia pasjonatów chcących przejechać ten odcinek. To żadna oferta dla pasażerów, zbędny wydatek. Już lepiej byłoby dołożyć za te pieniądze połączeń na innych liniach. Małym wyjątkiem od tej kuriozalnej sytuacji rodem z ostrego cięcia na PKP na przełomie XX i XXI wieku jest odcinek od Jelcza w stronę Wrocławia. Tam Koleje Dolnośląskie uruchamiają już masę połączeń. Tak jak powinno to wyglądać w cywilizowanym kraju. No ale czego się spodziewać jak linia leży od lat odłogiem i rychłego remontu nie widać.
Jedyną większą inwestycją, jaką wykonano w jej ciągu, było ukończenie elektryfikacji w 1988 roku oraz wpięcie w stację Opole Czarnowąsy odgałęzienia do uruchomionej w 1993 roku Elektrowni Opole. Jakiś czas temu przeprowadzono również remont nawierzchni kolejowej z wyłączeniem stacji Opole Wschodnie (tam ciągle jeździ się z prędkością 20km/h) pomiędzy Opolem Groszowicami a przystankiem osobowym Opole Borki na wysokości elektrowni. Linia żyje sobie swoim prowincjonalnym życiem. Gdzieniegdzie dochodzą ograniczenia prędkości, gdzieniegdzie jest coś remontowane i ograniczenia się usuwane. Dla pasjonatów ma to ogromny urok. Dla kolejarzy... niekoniecznie. No ale nie da się wszystkiego wyremontować do najwyższego standardu od razu. Potrzebne są czas, pieniądze i przepustowość.

I never go out specifically to shoot purple window trains but if one comes by while waiting for my main target I'll raise my camera for a shot. And that was exactly the case here while waiting for Providence and Worcester local PR-3 with the unit ethanol train to come down track 7 I lensed Keolis/MBTA outbound train 813 for Providence passing the Amtrak MOW Base located in the remains of the once vast New Haven Railroad Northrup Avenue hump yard. MPI HSP46 2033 is scooting down Main 1 at about MP 187.8 of Amtrak's New Haven Line main (the NEC) just about to the Providence city line that I'm practically standing on.

The 193.813 of Railpool, with "Rail Services" livery and leased to RTB (Rurtalbahn Cargo GmbH) is running near Singrünn hauling a freight train from Gyor to Bremen Rbf.
On a lovely late fall day the last bit of color lingers in the trees as outbound Keolis/MBTA train 813 slows for their station stop approaching MP 197 on Track 3 of Amtrak's New Haven Line with a 6/0 set trailing MPI HSP46 2021.
Obscured by the trees and catenary poles in the right center background, beyond the signal for BORO interlocking, stands the old wooden tower that was known as SS165 in NH days. Allegedly constructed in 1898, it was relocated here when the NH undertook their massive grade separation project through town and built their two new stations between 1903 and 1906. This tower also holds the distinction of being the last in service on the corridor in MA, not closing down until 1993. Amazingly it survives three decades later despite regular reports of its imminent demise.
Looking over the scene on the left side is the brick Second Congregational Church that was constructed on Park Street in 1904. The congregation dates from 1748 and is a daughter church of the First Congregational Church in the old town section of North Attleborough. This is actually the third structure in which congregants have gathered. Originally located in a meeting house on what is now the common, Second Congregational had a stately white clapboard building built in 1825 which was removed in the early 1950s to make way for the addition of a new Fellowship Hall and education rooms. The clock in the tower of this third building was owned originally by the city but now belongs to the church and seems to be keeping perfect time.
