Ex-EMD demo unit 8103 leads 376 through Newtonville. This 8103 ran into issues at Belleville and was left behind. Seeing as 8100 has been repainted along with 8101 and 8102 being in Centralia for maintenance and paint, this may be the final run of 8103 in this scheme.
The northbound LAC is at Spaulding, IL on April 7, 1984. I always liked this location, but it was rare to catch a northbound this late in the morning when the light was perfect.
On former Norfolk & Western rails, NS 8103 and NS 7614 leads an auto train west past the Missouri Farmers Association (MFA) elevators in Salisbury, Missouri on Norfolk Southerns Kansas City District.

Under milky skies, NS 8103 departs Becker eastbound with a loaded scrap metal train.
It's been almost 6 years since I last shot one of Norfolk Southern's heritage locomotives leading a train. I think it was WAB 1070 in January 2017.
It's been 4 years since I saw an NS heritage unit trailing, coincidentally it was the 8103 behind an NS SD40, seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/128204436@N06/42326057522/
In most cases with NS heritage units, it was on an oil train during the big ND oil boom. A Becker originator is an unusual place to find an NS heritage unit.
