Urania
The Urania was built in 1909 according to the plans of Art Nouveau architect Max Fabiani (a student of Otto Wagner) at the mouth of the Vienna (Wienfluss - small river) into the Danube Canal and opened in 1910 by Emperor Franz Joseph as an adult education center with observatory. It was named after the Greek muse of astronomy Urania.
In the Urania was also found the central clock system whose time characters could also be retrieved by phone. Previously, there was no central time information - the Viennese people oriented themselves to the church tower clocks. During the Second World War the Urania was severely damaged and the dome of the observatory completely destroyed. After the reconstruction it was reopened in 1957.

Until 2003, the Urania was completely renovated and includes still an observatory (see below), seminar rooms, where a wide range of courses and lecture services are provided, a movie theater, which is also the venue of the Viennale and the by Hans Kraus founded Urania puppet theater.
Urania observatory
The Urania Observatory was built as a public observatory together with the National Education Institute Urania in the years 1909-1910 and thus representing the oldest public observatory in Austria. In November 1944, the observatory and the in it located Zeiss refractor were almost completely destroyed. 1956 the zwölffenstrige (twelf-windows) lantern and dome were rebuilt by the City of Vienna, and in March 1957 guided tours could be resumed. In 1980, a specially for astronomical education tasks designed binocular telescope in the main dome was put into operation.
In the course of the general renovation of the Vienna Urania from 2000-2003, the observatory was structurally completely renewed. Instead of the old Meridian house additionally a new dome was built.

La Urania vienesa fue construido en 1909 según los planos del arquitecto modernista Max Fabiani (alumno de Otto Wagner) en la desembocadura del río Viena (Wienfluss) en el canal del Danubio y se inauguró en 1910 por el emperador Francisco José como un centro de educación de adultos con observatorio. Fue nombrado según la diosa griega Urania competente de la astronomía.
En la Urania, se encontró también el sistema central de reloj cuyas señales horarias también se pudo compropar por teléfono. Anteriormente, no había información horaria central - los vieneses se orientaron a los relojes de torre de las iglesias. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la Urania fue severamente dañado y la cúpula del observatorio completamente destruida. Después de la reconstrucción, se volvió a abrir en 1957.

Mi cuaderno de 2013 está casi vacío. No puedo empezar otro, cada año un cuaderno me recuerdo continuamente. Apenas hay recortes de periódicos, ni fotos ni poemas, ni frases. Mi pluma duerme en el cajón de la mesilla de noche, impaciente, triste. Las palabras no quieren fluir y yo me desespero...
