It was involved in a crash, as you can see by the rear left wheel, and i have information that it's been parked here for a while, hope it wasn't abandoned, there's already a paper on the windshield of someone that wants to buy it...
Up to 80 beats per second, hummingbird's wings do not flap like a bird but rather, they rotate in a figure of 8. Chow down.
I was super excited to see these crazy light pattern reflections on this billboard from the windows on an adjacent building. Very cool!
For those of you who know I-80/Donner Pass, there's a marvelous cutoff on to the old US Highway 40 (the old LINCOLN HIGHWAY) through the Yuba Canyon. Quaint little Sierra cabins, many made of local stone, and then anchoring the area is the old historic RAINBOW LODGE. Closed for the Winter season, and I think under new ownership/management, it got absolutely buried with this year's record snowfall. Looks more like the Alps....
That snow pile on the left is almost 16 feet in height.
8033 comes off the Rozelle Branch having earlier shunted grain hoppers at the Goodman Fielder works in Summer Hill (formerly Mungo Scott Ltd), 18th September 2000. This section of track was lifted during the course of converting the Rozelle Branch to Light Rail. The Goods lines adjacent to the Bankstown Line have also now been de-electrified. As at late 2024, the Bankstown Line has been closed for conversion to driverless Metro trains.
BTR-80
The BTR-80 is a Soviet 8x8 wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier introduced in 1985. It replaced its predecessors the BTR-70 and BTR-60, and was used in many conflicts globally. It first saw combat in the Soviet-Afghan war, where it proved very effective. It has been used in virtually every major conflict since, and is still used by Russia and almost 50 countries worldwide. And currently, the BTR-80 is being used in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
More than 5,000 units have been built since it’s introduction. This model is configured with the 14.5mm KPVT machine gun, and more recent variants such as the BTR-82A are equipped with a 30mm cannon.
This specific model depicts the BTR-80 as it would be used during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan during the mid-80’s. It is built in 1:40/45 scale. The turret of the model is inspired by Tiger131 on Instagram and his use of a unique dish piece for the turret of his BRDM 2, and Henry (Brick Battlefield) for the technique he used for the swim vein on his BTR-70. Other than that, the model is completely my own design.
SJ70 HNR is a Volvo B8RLE/MCV Evora new to Lothian Buses in January 2021 as their number 80. It is seen here on Princes Street in Edinburgh operating service 30 to Musselburgh.
Interesting to see a 4x4 model in what looks like a low-spec and in the beige colour. Also good that it still has the black plates.
